hey all!
we are in the process of opening a new space and have decided to go the projection route to show clients their images...

Anyone have a great brand / type they recommend?

We have a lot of natural light in the space - so a projector with 2000 plus lumens is probably necessary...but that is the ONLY thing i understand.

Would love any advice / recs!

Thank you!
liana
InFocus has been superb for me so far. You'll want to look at a different model than my though... mine's a travel-friendly one and a studio one can be bigger and with more bang for the buck I'm sure. Can't wait to see you soon!!
jenna
so excited to see you too! really pushing through and looking forward to that! a welcome break from projector shopping while falling asleep in bed. lol.

thanks for the rec on this - i so don't feel like investigating lumens and contrast ratios right now!

Hi Jenna!

We went with the Panasonic AX-100U from Projector People:
http://www.projectorpeople.com/projectors/...nic+PT%2DAX100U

So far, it has worked great, and handles a moderate amount of ambient light in our projection room just fine! We are lukewarm about the out-of-box color calibration. We are going to try calibration discs first, and then spring for the pro calibrator if worst comes to worst.

Getting there!!! smile.gif

We're having some custom drapes made to block the ambient light & installing the screen/projector within the next couple of weeks. It is seriously sad...we've had the projector since February and we are just now finding the time to work on this project!

But yes -- we'll definately be going the ProSelect route! I had a chance to sit in on Angela Carson's selling class at WPPI...nothing to it!

Hey Jenna,

I've had a lot of good experience with Epson and NEC projectors. If you want I can talk to my media tech here at work and tell you probably the best model for your budget, so just let me know how much you wanna spend and what kind of inputs you are looking for. He might even be able to give me a name of a great dealer in your area as he does a lot of work with some big retailers.

Hey Ron -

I use the projector for teaching. The slideshows I do at weddings are done on my laptop computers... using the built-in photo screensaver slideshow function that MAC has. I just point it to a folder and turn the screensaver on. Lightroom has a great slideshow function as well and I've been using that lately instead.

Hello All,

Does anyone else have recommendations for a specific model? I'd like to go DLP to avoid the screen-door effect, and will be projecting onto a 4:3 screen, so I think 1024x768 makes sense.

Call the Projector People and talk to Todd. He'll give you good info.
