I had an interesting assignment to do last weekend - shoot some pictures of psychic for her new upcoming web site. Some of the required shot were about taro cards reading and meditation.

Here is a few of my favorite:

I'm not a fan of the profession, but I think you've done a great job with these portraits.

I love the backlighting with her hair... it looks ethereal

Nice color--I like the seated ones a lot

Awesome job lighting these Alex, they look great!

But more importantly, did she tell you your future?? smile.gif

Hey Kacy! No, she didn't. I don't want to know smile.gif

I love the floor and candles shots. Awesome job Alex!

Great job, Alex! The floor ones are my favorite (though it's cool to have the incense smoke wafting about in the first few).

Incidientally, it's spelled tarot. It's Italian. Originally, it was just a name for playing cards, which were a new thing in the fourteenth century. smile.gif

Thank you! My spell checker didn't correct me, and I was too tired when I was writing it.

Thanks! To get the smoke on the pictuere was quite a challange. It wouldn't render without the back lighting at all and it was flowing in unpredictably. I was even asking to blow it into right direction. Besides that, even if you see it, after the picture is taken it can be totaly different.

Awesome lighting Alexander! What did you use?

I have to thank David from strobist.blogspot.com for keeping his blog and sharing his techniques.
On the first tree I used natural light from the window on the right and flash behind with paper snoot on.
For the meditaion shots, I used 2 flashes, one upper left and one behind the subject. Both flashes were with snoots to narrow the beam and have it only on the subject.

Those are really cool! I love the lighting too!
