ok here's the deal...

i'm a newly converted MAC user (well a year ago). I kept my PC for the sole purpose of making slideshows. I use Photodex Pro Show Gold and absolutely love it! I also used Pix 2 Exe to make slideshows for the customers to be able to preview their pictures at home on their computer.

My PC died yesterday I think it got electrocuted by lightining. Soooo I dont have any slideshow software. Any suggestions? Here's what I need it to do...

1. Can burn DVD's and CD's of the show for use on home DVD and computers (this is a MUST)
2. can customize it to fit to music and can add slides of text

ive heard of ShowIt and it seems cool but I dont have webspace and hosting and all of that and cant seem to find out how much it costs to get a DVD of the show?

can anybody help me or do i need to go buy a PC laptop to make my friggin slideshows ??????

How old is the PC?
Maybe you can replace the motherboard & power supply with identical hardware and boot from the same hard drive and will have lost almost nothing.

We love showit! It's worth getting a webdmain and hosting (max of $70/year). I'm sending a PM with the cost of show. It's probably not public b/c we can all set our own consumer cost.

I think the only way you can get a dvd from Show-It is to order one.

I use Show-It for web slideshows and Proshow for DVD slideshows. I haven't seen a single solution that does both well.

And there's a good chance that it's only your pc's power supply.

You should be able to do everything you want with the software that came with your mac.

iDVD is able to make slideshows, and even allows you programable menu's for DVD players and such, so should allow you tons of creative freedom. I haven't played with iDVD much, but I just opened it to fiddle and you can do quite a bit with it, including burning a Disk Image that should allow others to see it on their computers the same as it would be seen on a DVD player.

Hope that works and saves you some money!

Since you have the MAC already you already have the software to create awesome slide shows and DVD's. As was pointed out iDVD is great for simple photo slides shows and cool menus. To have more fun try iPhoto for slide shows, you can even use the Ken Burns effects of zooming and panning across images to bring stills to life. A great addition to the iLife applications is FotoMagic it's the bomb. Secret, create your slide shows then send them to garage band to score them with music or narration.

Have fun,

Bobby D.
