I've been in need of a new laptop for a little while now. since i am seconds away from this... smashpc.gif

I've never had an Apple, for no particular reason, just always had Windows. Everyone seems to love their iBooks and such. I just wanted to get some advice or recommendations on what others think and why...

iBooks seem to be a little more money than I should spend right now, but if it looks like it is worth the investment, I might have to bite the big one and move over...

I'll just need some solid opinions.. urock.gif

I definitely say yes. I started using Mac's in college and I was like "these things suck" because I couldn't figure them out. But, once I got used to them, I quickly realized how much better, faster & more reliable they were than PCs. I used to know how to do everything on PC, and now I'm getting there with the Mac. "Once you go Mac, you'll never go back."

I've saved up money for a year just to buy my Macbook & later... my G5. I definitely think a good computer is just as good as having a good camera! I bought my Macbook first, and almost a year later I got my G5. They never get slow, I remember when I would just scream at my PC because it was so slow.

I would spend the extra money now, because they should last you for a few years at least... You definitely won't regret it!

Good Luck!

We just bought our 4th Mac (a 17" MacBook Pro) and LOVE it.

You seriously will NOT regret it.

I am finally switching over to Mac's...I switched over to Canon a few months ago (loving it). I just ordered the 15 inch Macbook Pro decked out (the way I think computers should be bought) 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4GB of RAM, 256 video card, LED backlit screen (can we say larger color gamut), glossy screen, 160 7200RPM HD, backlit keyboard, and an OS that is stable...everything about the Macbook Pro is awesome. I am looking forward to my Mac. I will be getting the 30 inch Cinema Display to replace my 24 inch Dell and I LOVE that I can run it from the Macbook Pro.

Yeah, so get one already.....hope that helps.

If your savvy enough to not get viruses & malware on Windows, why switch?
Think of other costs. Most software allows you to use your license on two workstations, but the license may well not work between a Mac & PC. So you would need to purchase two licenses. besides, Mac software to my knowledge is more expensive.
Windows ain't so bad (except Vista for now and the foreseeable future). If your comfortable with Windows, why waste time re-learning your compter skills instead of improving upon other, more important skills?

I finally made the switch to my beautiful and glorious MacBook Pro see www.blog.weldonsphotograph.com

I'm sick of sucky a$$ pcs. I was one to back PC I honestly thought there was no difference. I finally decided after my extremely slow pc kept getting the blue screen of death and would be super slow and it just keeps freezing. I've only had that crappy Dell for a year. I went out and spent some money, but man am I greatful. This thing smokes. I'm so much more productive and I'm having fun on this thing. I'm now exploring other creative ventures that are a lot of fun.

Try it, trust me you wont regret it.

I switched to MAC last February....Now I want to switch back to Windows. Why? Because, I've spent 8-10 hours a day at work for the past 10 years on different flavors of the Windows OS and it is what I am proficient at. I only get about an hour or 2 a night trying to learn the MAC and get frustrated at my learning curve.

Why did I buy the MAC? Many reasons, most of them shallow...my wife thought it looked cool, their ad campaign made me feel like PC and not the creative MAC dude, and it was now Intel based so I felt I had an escape route if needed.

After seven months using the MAC, I have decided that MAC and PC are, for the most part, equal. If you compare like hardware to like hardware, their performance in human experience (not lab tests) are basically the same and what you can do on one, you can do on the other. Using a PC does not mean you are an in personal corporate cog, nor does using a MAC make you a cool creative hippie. You are who you are no matter what platform you run on.

So, MAC or PC? It's as easy as Coke or Pepsi....you prefer one or the other...don't over analyze it or buy into marketing hype. Try them both and then choose.

I tried MAC, and now I am going back...for the same reason I choose Coke...it just tastes better to me.

Apple products are quality built machines, and for that reason, I'm giving the iMac to my daughter instead of selling it.

Your experience is your experience, but I'm a little surprised to see your final decision.

I work in IT and have been using PCs for a long time to do my daily job. My wife runs her business on Apple computers. At the end of the day I thoroughly enjoy the respite from PCs. Not having to play with .DLL files, Registry settings, and the clunky interfaces makes the switch worth every penny (IMO).

I can get down to business and actually be productive.

During the day I catch myself trying to use Exposé but for some reason the windows don't move away in Windows wink.gif
