Full Version: A Kentucky Hello!

Hello Everyone!

After three tries to get my account validated, I'm finally able to introduce myself! I just discovered this forum a few days ago and have spent hours and hours soaking in all the wonderful advice and images you all have to offer! This seems to be an amazing community that I can't wait to be a part of.

My name is Jenny, and I'm a student at Western Kentucky University with a double major in Music and English (writing option). I've loved photography ever since I was little (I remember family vacations when I was little where mom would have to take the camera away because I'd already shot six or seven rolls of film after the first day or two unsure.gif haha).

I'm testing the waters right now with starting my own business. Right now I'm mainly shooting senior and engagement sessions, and want to work my way up to weddings. I absolutely loved the one wedding I got to second shoot (many thanks to the primary photographer who gave me the chance!), so I'm working on building up the knowledge, equipment, and experience to be able to do it on my own some day!

I'm a huge believer in dreaming big and following your dreams! I'm very seriously hoping to move to Colorado after I graduate college. Life is too short to stay in one place the whole time! I LOVE to travel. My absolute dream for the future? Get to travel around often with the love of my life, photographing people with theirs (i.e. weddings!). And some day have kids. Haha

Sorry that was a tad bit long, but many thanks to anyone who stuck it through the whole thing! You all are wonderful, and I can't wait to hopefully get to know some of you and learn more about this art we all love! The more I learn, the more I realize I still have to explore. It's great!

And don't mind Brent. He's off his rocker. He thinks everyone should be way down South (way, way, way) and doesn't realize it's really Summertime.

^Hmm, I'm a little early for the week-by-week revival, but oh well!

Hey Jenny, since you're already at WKU, can you take some classes in their photo department? Their photojournalism program is rumored to be pretty amazing, and I attended the Mountain Workshop through WKU just under a year ago. That was one of the best weeks ever, I got to meet Todd Heisler (pulitzer winner), Renee Byer (pulitzer winner) and Rick Loomis (if not already, a future pulitzer winner), among others.
It was basically a collection of the greatest working newspaper photojournalists all in one place to give advice and talk about their own work. Amazing!
