so now that my logo creator went mia,
i *think* i am going to play around with my own
before I reorder business cards.

do you have photo's on your card?? or just simple text.

would love to see your business card!!!

we did this on a another forum I am on and it was
really fun to see what others are doing. wink.gif

Here are my two - I apologize for the image quality...it's late, and I didn't bother to do anything with them.

I think it's important for a photographer to have images on his/her business cards - I've had so many times where the image has won me a conversation about my photography. I recently went car shopping, and gave the cards to salesmen as my contact info...the Hertz salesman said "wow, this is really good!" three times! I've had people ask me for extras...I'm sure that wouldn't have happened if they were text only.

The one thing I'll do next time (I'm getting low) is to sharpen my text more and make it larger. It ended up a little fuzzy.

Oh, they were printed by H&H Color Lab - I love their four color press! I know others here have said they love their business cards from WHCC.

use moo cards now - i dont mess wiht the others - these are simple, fast and economical. every time i do a new shoot, i add to my pile. everyone that sees them falls in love with them. every vendor i give my cards to wants to do the same with theirs. i love moo!
kaitlin
I'm in the process of getting some printed...I was going to go with the moo cards, but recently received a few from online orders (other people's) and think they're way smaller than what I thought, and too small to hand out - I know I would lose them easily!

Ask for Matt.

Of course, nothing tops DJ's metal business cards....way cool.

my cards are not by any means traditional. I use these for my seniors. I have this whole wrinkled paper thing going. it might not make sense to you just seeing this but its really fun and people think its cute.

can you imagine the liability you could have with those?

lol...he told me that they double as ninja stars for the bridezillas...lol

We stuck with just having text on our business cards as it was more of a reflection of what we were *trying* to carry through on all website, blog photos, etc.

You've gotta check out the company that did them (http://www.paperwhitespress.com)... they're letterpressed so the "andrew" is actually raised on the card while the "bryant photography" (and contact info) is actually pressed.

This is my first attempt. I do a fair amount of pro-bono event photography (mostly for my church). Please be brutal with cc.. (other than commenting on the two different blacks in the background which I can't seem to correct atm)

I like how simple you've kept it. My only critique - you don't need the quotes on Photography With Purpose...italicized is enough to make your point. No quotes necessary, and it will look a bit cleaner, too.

Our new card design is with the printer. We struggled with only being able to show one or two photos on a card. The problem is one or two images can't really communicate the fulness of any one person's overall style. Let's just say we found a solution for that wink.gif More to come.....
r-lr
oh andrew- your famous wink.gif
they use your card as their photo (but I am sure you already new that!)

very cool.

anybody every print through whcc for cards??

Yes. I was fairly pleased except there were several people who raved about the pearl paper but I didn't realize that the white background of my card would end up looking, well..... pearly.

I wanted a crisp white but was so hung up on pearl (JULES!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!) that I ordered pearl sight unseen.

So keep that in mind.

Also, the text isn't super crisp. It's not true offset printing, and I'm a sucker for super-crisp text.

But you can do REALLY small runs REALLY quickly so that's a good thing!

Here are mine. Since I took these photos, they have been updated slightly with my logo and slightly larger text.

I'm going to switch them up soon with new images and colors.

Those are awesome Jonathan. Where did you get them printed and what type of paper are they on.

Thanks
mattcam
Oh man Jonathan. I remember seeing those in a previous thread. Those are super cool!
jthrasherphoto
thanks guys! Shawn, i get them printed at overnightprints.com. They are normal business card stock but both sides have a UV coating which adds a little sheen and some thickness.

The new ones are much better looking with the logo and larger text.

Not sure yet. But they did that proof for free and I just submitted my logo last night. I'll let you know when I order.

It's hard for me. But I didn't want my number or any other info on there. I want them to get them to the website.

Do you think those prices are that high because they're plastic?

I haven't price shopped online so I don't know what to compare to, but the local pro print shop in town only charged me $113 for 1000 business cards on the nicest card stock they have for full color image on both sides.
Laurie
+1 on the price...ouch...those are really expensive.

Laurie
Shane Snider
Of course they are expensive. They are frosted plastic cards. But they are going to have more impact than a paper card.

I know someone who paid $1 per card for plastic cards. So, this kind of seems like a good deal to me.
Laurie
You are paying $2.36/card for 100 cards.

Laurie

not dissing the cards...just quite expensive for me on first blush.

Are we reading the same thing? I'm no math wiz, but when I divide $359 by 500 cards, I get .71 cents a card.

Just so we're clear, I'm talking about this...

Yes you're looking at the same thing - it's $236 for 100 cards, so that's 2.36/card....obviously, the more you order, the cheaper they are per card...still....almost $100 less at alltimeprint.com for 500 cards...

EDIT: Ha....I see you just saw...sorry!

EDIT2: I also see that ATP charges extra for clear/frosted cards... ($286 for 500)

It's nice to have nice looking cards - but a good card doesn't guarantee that they are going to remember (or call) you. You still have to convince them that you have something they value.

If Donald Trump wrote his phone number down on a soiled paper napkin - no one would lose it or forget it.

John, I was just on your web site and I love it... It's bright and cheery. You have a very nice body of work. I also noticed that your prices for full coverage start at $4,000. Yet, you are the Mr. Doomsday guy on OSP, telling us we should all charge $1,000.

What's with the snarky comments? Do you just get off on constantly playing devil's advocate? How do you reconcile your remarks with being the "Luvfool" for your brides.
