I love this time of year. The heat is awful, but storm season is so incredibly cool.

Wow the first one is fantastic. That needs to be a big 30x40 metallic prints. Great colors, capture, and composition. Love it.

Awesome and then some!! That first one is so cool with the bolts off in the background.
I tried to wait for a storm last night, but no deal. Just some light activity.

WOW! The first one is out of this world! Fantastic shot & the car's lights in it add that special finishing touch to it. Really well shot!

Yes, dude those rock! I'd really like to learn how you kept your shutter open for so long? It was easy on my film bodies but I haven't figured it out yet how to do it with my D70.

Awesome - thanks guys!
The trick to the long shutter is the "B" / Bulb setting - all cameras (that I know of) have this setting. You may have to unlock it in a menu to select it - or set your cam to manual and dial the shutter waaaaaay down - bulb is the key.
You can also manually shoot 30 sec or so exposures one after the other and wait for the flashes to happen, but having bulb gives a lot more control over timing. Use a remote trigger / cable button also - otherwise you'll wiggle the tripod when shooting and blur stuff.
I did a pretty in depth write up in my blog about how to shoot this stuff.... hopefully it's helpful.....
