I never really shoot models, but got addicted to modelmayhem.com and met some friends here in Hawaii. This is my 3rd and 4th model shoot and i don't know what the heck i'm doing...so the pose/outfits/hair & makeup are all done by the models...i just clicked the button and butchered the images in photoshop;) I think i'll stick with the weddings cause i got kicked out of 3 hotels doing these shoots....SECURITY!!!!. Please let me know what you think or how i can imporove.

I'm not such a big fan of the booty shots, but your colour pallets and tones are inspiring. especially numbers 2,3 and 5.

oh my. The fully clothed ones are really nice. But honestly, those booty ones are a bit, ummm, booty. Some of those poses bring to mind baw chicka baw bawwwww.

Really digging the off cam lighting, love that 2nd shot and the PP on the one with the tree.
I actually really like the last one too; I think that textures get a bit overused but it really works with the lighting/pose/wardrobe.

Not to start a fight here but what the heck are you guys doing surfing OSP at work anyways!
FYI, OSP is probably the most conservative photo forum on the net but most everyone is open-minded so something in the subject line about being risque or something is usually enough to keep those offended by any sort of sexuality from even opening the thread. That is part of what is cool about OSP; as long as you warn people they are kind enough to not leave negative comments. But if you don't warn...

My $.02 on the booty shots is that they just aren't all that flattering for the models.

I surf OSP when I'm running database queries and sometimes when I should be doing other stuff. Colin, please keep in mind that some of us will always be lowly assistants or part timers, so the day job surfing is what keeps us going...

I would agree that the booty shots aren't very flattrering for the girl. I love the first set, they are all really amazing, and I really like the model with wet hair, red suit and the last one. Those stand out to me as working really really well. But I like the pp on these, not butching involved Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition~!

Thanks for the critiques and helpful info...and the booty shots are a bit "bootylicious" cause thats what we were aiming for. It was funny cause the first model was very conservative and the second was very liberal. It was nice to experiment with the two styles.

I gotta admit that i had more fun on the 2nd shoot....can you believe she has 2 kids and still looks that good!

In the longrun, i want to learn how to shoot maxim style...gotta learn poses and lighting...I would like to see more "mens interest" style shoots posted here...I think OSP has a great talent pool of kids and senior photogs, but i can't find too many "sexy" or bikini posts here.....FredMiranda has some, but I heart OSP;)

Glad to see you are over here at OSP too. I have seen some of your work posted at FM, especially your Before/After stuff and some of the things are you doing with JPEG's these days is simply astounding.

Great to see some more posts from you Shawn! I think these are kickin', but it is a whole different style to learn. Glam poses and lighting can get tricky, but then practice makes perfect. Hard for me to give you any advice as its not a style Ive tried.

Shawn, great sets of images. I love the strong eye contact in the very first shot. To be perfectly honest I actually think the first model, despite the fact she's not showing so much flesh, is by far hotter & more smouldering than the second one. For someone who supposedly doesn't know what they're doing, you did a great job!

Shawn --- I'm diggin the first set!!! I really like your post production work... and have really been following your work... Post more stuff your your blog, ok??

Nothing much to add, but I don't think the second to last photo is AT ALL flattering. She looks like she has thick thighs and big hips. Which is okay, but it's not proportional and she's totally hotter than that! In the one above that...the lighting (and this might be the low-res, but I'm not sure) - it makes her legs look lumpy.

Oh, and I agree - first set is more "smoldering" and hot.

Can I just say that you shoud be shooting MUCH higgher than FHM! Your work is eons better than those guys. Do know that if you leave the bootylicious shots out and around, it might hurt the way people perceive you, especially for weddings, natch!

Strong strong strong first set. The natural lighting and PS stuff is tight and subtle. You need to Liquify her dress in the tree shot as the wind under it lost her shape. Love the colors, especially the orange saturation in the PS work. Really smart theme through them. the Maxim stuff is great for what it is, but you have a grasp on something MUCH more enticing and profitable with the higher fashion. Just my 2c!
