The Through Their Eyes Africa Mentor Madness and online Auction is on! This is a chance for you to bid on spending a private hour with Jessica Claire, Bob Davis or Dane Sanders. You can also bid on Mike Colon DVD's and even on Showit Pro software donated from DJ. How cool is that!

The funds will go toward purchasing equipment for the Through Their Eyes Africa Project. All donations are tax deductible and your donations will make a big difference in the lives of some of the neediest People in earth. Go to our Blog to see a list of all the items and start your bidding.

We did a 24 hour blogathon last month and that got us the funds to go to Africa on August 14th to plan for our photo project and to find the first African student that I will be teaching photography to. This will be the test trip and next year we will be taking a team made up of our sponsor Photographers. But we still need some equipment like cameras and batteries.

In August I will be going with the first ever medical team to reach the group of people we will be doing our Mentoring project with. While there we will pick our first student. These are people that have never been helped before and this project will bring attention to the needs of these people in a way that will let the young adults in the village to tell their story through their eyes with photos.

Here is a link to our Blog so go and take a look and let the bidding begin!

Thanks for your support.

Thanks Amber,

We can use all the help we can. We really need that equipment to get this going and your support is greatly appreciated.

Since I live in Hawaii and I post at night that is the middle of the night for most of you and think most of you might have missed this. I wanted to move this to the top of new posts today. Thanks for your support.

Just got our first bids! They were on the Mike Colon DVD's.

How about those Mentor sessions. Talk about valuable. Spending an our of private time with Jessica, Mike or Dane, priceless.

Thanks and let me know what you think about this. I know there is some time until this auction closes on Tuesday but don't be shy:)

Are you looking for used equipment for people to donate...I'm figuring the equipment that is donated goes to the actual students that you are going to help.

And how much of the money goes directly to the people that you are helping? This sounds like a very unique project!
DavidH
I am looking for new digital Point and shoots. Like the Canon G7 or Nikon P5000. I need to have one for the student, one for the photographer and one backup. We will be 2 days into the African bush and not many camera stores around if something breaks or gets trampled by and elephant!. We also need lots of new batteries since there is no electricity in these villages. We have a better change of good, consistent images if we use newer cameras with newer technology.

All the donations will go right to the project and since we have not done the project yet we do not know that exact percentage of donations that will go directly to helping these people until we establish our final budget when I get back in September. All the donations from this Auction will go toward the equipment we need right now and all donations are Tax Deductible. The beauty about this project is that our photography team will be helping to show these young adults that it is possible for them to make money to help with their challenges by selling photos that they will take. It is designed to help them help themselves.

And most of the items in the Auction have bids now and many of the visitors to the blog have been coming from this forum. Thanks for your support.

And let's remind people that the auctions have an "anti-snipe" feature. If a bid comes in close to the closing time of the auction, it will automatically be extended to allow the other bidders to respond. That's not only more fair, but it also eliminates the common practice of shill bidding by auction owners - who will bid up the auction price early on to make sure they can make a profit when the snipes come in. (Two reasons not to use eBay.)

Thanks Jim for all your help. Like your Avitar:) My daughter is a Senior at the University of Oregon and will be going to Africa with us as a social worker with the Medical team. The Mascot of the UofO is Donald Duck. They are the only college to have a Disney Character as their Mascot, including a signed Letter from Walt himself giving permission. If you like Donald Duck you should check out my Xanga Blog on May 29 to hear the real voice of Donald Duck sing Happy Birthday to my wife. We met him at a wedding in Napa Valley California last May.

And by the way I promise not to bid on anything. Its all for you guys.

Keep on bidding!
