Hi all,

My little boy, Matthias, is sick for the very first time in his life. He woke up yesterday after his morning nap and felt really hot all over. We thought it was because our house is super hot (haven't gotten around to getting AC put in in the new house yet). But as the day wore on, he was eating less and less and his body was growing hotter and hotter and he was crankier and crankier.

By early evening, my mother in law came over (the best woman in the entire world, by the way) and he always calms down around her, and we just couldn't soothe the poor little guy. We took his temperature and it was 104.1. So I called his doctor and were were in to see him within 30 minutes.

Matthias has a very severe (but also very recent - we caught it extremely quickly) infection of the throat and tonsils. It hurts him to swallow, so he wasn't eating or drinking anything. I went to the pharmacy, filled his precription for antibiotics, and was hoping for the best.

2 hours later, he wakes up (11:30pm now) with a fever of 103 (we had gotten it down to 100 before he fell asleep) and just screaming and crying. And then he started throwing up. A lot.

So, off to the ER we went. 3 hours later, all they could tell us was to push the fluids. Ummm...duh...if we could get him to drink anything, we wouldn't be worrying about dehydration and we wouldn't have been there.

So, back home we went with an extremely miserable and very tired little boy. He hadn't slept for more than about 4 hours total since the whole thing had started. And we were up with him all night, just trying to keep him cool.

Today, he's still sick, but is finally taking some formula. And my in-laws brought us an air conditioner, but our windows are such that it can only go in the dining room downstairs. We think its ok (it felt a bit cooler upstairs where his bedroom is) and put Matthias down to bed, only to have him wake up 45 minutes later sweating and crying. We tried to have him go to sleep downstairs, but our puppy doesn't understand that it isn't playtime, and she was being super difficult.

So...my husband has taken him over to my in-laws (did I mention they are the most awesome people in the world) where they have central air conditioning, and i'm hoping that they all get some sleep tonight.

So, if you are so inclined, please pray for my little boy, who is just suffering so much. He's figured out cause and effect, so he knows that food is going to hurt when he swallows, so now he's afraid of having anything out of a bottle...or a cup...or an eye dropper (medicine) or anything from our hands. He's just so little and it is so hard to see him cry and cry and be in pain. So, please pray for my little boy, Matthias.

Thank you!

We'll keep you, Matthias, and the rest of the family in our thoughts & prayers tonight. Make sure YOU get some sleep too--I know it's hard, but you're of more help to the family when you get some rest! bigbighug.gif

Oh, poor thing! My two year old Roxy had a super high fever last year, too. We were FREAKED out, took her to the ER in the middle of the night with 104 temp. After a little while of trying to figure it out, they decided they needed a urine sample. YEAH, you know how they get a urine sample from an infant? I had to help them HOLD HER DOWN so they could put a catheter in and get a sample from her. She screamed and I cried and cried. It's so awful to have a baby in pain and not be able to fix it! I'll keep you in my thoughts!

XOXOXOXO, Sarah

Absolutely will pray right now.

I hate when the little guys are sick. It's so sad to see them suffer.

God bless you and yes, get some rest!

It's no fun when a little one gets sick...they're miserable and they share...

I will be praying for your son, and for you & your husband. And that everyone has a restful night.

Will do!

It's truly horrible when your baby is sick. They can't tell you what's wrong and their's not owners manual to help. Prayers will be (have already) sent.

Hope that fever has come down!

Praying for him and you guys.

But if I may ask - have you & your family prayed over him? Together?
It makes a world of difference in their healing.

I will pray this right now, feel free to print it out and pray it together as a family:

In the name of the Father + The Son + and The Holy Spirit +

Jesus, you promised us that when 2 or more are gathered in your name that you would be with us. Lord, we gather together in your most precious name and pray for your child, Matthias. My dear Jesus, have mercy on him and deliver him from this infection, fever and whatever else may be causing him to suffer. We lay his suffering at your feet, and nail it to your cross where you suffered and died for us all. Please heal him Lord, and let no harm come to him from this. Jesus, my Lord - You gave your believers authority over the power of the evil one, I claim that authority right now and pray: {do the following with authority & w/o fear}

In the name of Jesus the Messiah, I command you, satan to release this child of God and depart from him - hurting him not as you depart to your eternal place. And I command that you do not hurt anyone as you leave. Begone satan, and leave my boy in peace. The Lord rebukes you and your evil ways.

{now pray over your son}
The lord Jesus has healed and delivered you.
Praise be The Father + The Son + and The Holy Spirit +

Thank you Jesus for your love, blessings and healing. Amen.

Then pray the Our Father together and any other prayers the Spirit leads.

God Bless you. thumbsup.gif

Thank you guys for all your thoughts and prayers.

He is still over at my in-laws with my husband (with really nice central air) and he seems to be doing so much better! He finally had a good night of sleep (8 full hours) and his fever is down, and he's eating both solids and his formula (although still scared to try them...once he gets a bite, he's fine).

So, they'll spend the rest of the day there, as well at the night tonight, because its an ozone action day (I'm still learning what this means - but something that makes it hard to breathe) plus really high humidity and high temp outside. So, they'll stay there today and tonight and hopefully, I'll have the second AC unit running upstairs by end of the day today.

Our house is shaped a little weird (don't ask) and we have some sort of special type of window...anyway, regular window a/c units don't fit right. So, I've been on the quest for a portable a/c unit, and I've found one, but they seem to be missing the exhaust hose. Hopefully, they will find it and I'll have the unit by the end of the day. Otherwise, I shall continue my search for one of these elusive types of a/c units!

I am not sure if you have resolved the AC problem yet and I dont know if you have a BestBuy around where you live. I have this unit and I absolutely love it. It is just as noisy as any window mounted units but performs very well and also has the Auto Temperature setting (it will keep the desired temperature in the room automatically). Hope this helps, and hope your little one feels better.
