Sarah,
These are beautiful; and the back story makes them even more so. Great capture of her father, I am sure that will be cherished forever. Your PP is beautiful I love all the textures and tones.

Thanks for the sweet comments!
I emailed her a link to the photos this morning and just got an email back that her father passed away three days after the wedding.

I feel so so sad for her but I'm so glad she got to have her dad walk her down the aisle!
What a hugely important job we have! I feel so lucky right now!

Oh WOW Sarah! I have the chills after I read your last post. What an amazing gift you have given them, beautiful memories of their wedding- and it included her father. I am so happy you were able to shoot the wedding when they needed you to instead of in November.
The images are awesome and I love the different effects you have used on them! They are all beautiful.

Thanks! I got chills, too, when I read the email about him passing. He looked so so tired the day of the wedding. Most of the day he couldn't even hold his head up, but when he did, and when he saw his daughter Sarah, he looked so proud. It was amazing. I just can't get over how lucky I feel to have met these people.

Thanks for posting this Sarah. We were once again reminded of the importance of the wedding images yesterday. My cousin lost his wife to diabetes. We shot their wedding last fall. It takes a strong foundation to get through times like that.

Sarah,
Yes, the jobs are very important and in this case so is backing up your images!
May I suggest you back them up in no less than 75 places on 3 continents? Don't let ANYTHING happen to these images. Seriously, do an extra backup. I'll sleep better tonight.

Haha, yeah, that was the very first thing I did - backup to DVD, backup to both external hard drives, upload full size files to SmugMug and backup to laptop. I think we'll be good!

Sarah, you really came through for this couple. I'm sure that a bunch of these pictures are going to be framed (and cried over) the minute they receive them!
I would have posted a comment on your blog but I opted for the chatbox because Blogger is such a pain in the reass.

Beyond amazing images, i'm sure those will give her many happy memories and some tears. It's really heart warming to think about the role something we can create can play in another person's life, make ya proud don't it.

Sarah,
Beautiful, yet sad story and beautiful images. I can't believe I've been on here for six months and I've never seen any of your work.
Your post-processing is amazing! It is so vintage (which I love) and it perfectly matches your shooting style.
Thanks for sharing the story and the images.

these are lovely! I love the cross processed shot of them , the tender moment when they are hugging. And also the picture of them sitting with the bubbles..and of course her father walking her down the aisle. So beautiful. May I ask what he was sick with? Very bittersweet, I'm sure. It must have been emotional because I am feeling emotional just sitting here looking at these images! I'm glad they had a photographer like yourself to capture such heartfelt moments.

Good job, Sarah. Very touching.
Also, the venue you photographed at won't be around too much longer, either. It's going out in June of next year.
