I actually saw this posted on a wedding forum.
If you had all the money in the world how would your wedding look like? Who would you hire? What would you HAVE to have??? If you had to do it all again or the first time what would your dream wedding look like?
I posted my answer on my blog:
http://www.alishaclark.netI would like to know!! It's really fun to dream.

I really wouldn't change a whole lot about the wedding I had. We had our wedding at the church I grew up in, which is beautiful and is full of memories for me. I loved our photographer and florist. I would have gotten a much larger album. I would have hired a completely different caterer, that was the only total negative (also the one vendor that I didn't want, but my mom insisted on since they "were the best in Santa Barbara" at the time. Just goes to show that the best isn't always the best and sometimes you should follow your instincts). We had a very simple reception at our church, and honestly, I loved that it was simple and not overdone. That really is more my style. I loved my bridesmaid dresses at the time, but now I would choose different ones, just cause styles have changed. I still love my dress. I would have some really fun car chauffeur us away at the end of the reception. Then I would go on a totally incredible honeymoon for a month after the wedding, either to travel around Europe or to some tropical location or both. I would travel first class all the way and really be pampered.
Oh, yeah, and I would make sure Adam's brother didn't wear brown birkenstocks with his tux during all of our formal photos. It really kind of ruined the photos.

Paul & I have been married for almost 16 years but we said only the other day if we ever were to do it again, it would be small, relaxed, casual & definitely on the beach (he's a surfer-dude!). To be honest, it's not something I've given thought to because I'm highly unlikely to do it again! One thing I DO know is, if I had the money & I was doing the whole wedding thing over again, I would so be hiring an insane amount of photographers!!

I would have Alisha plan the whole thing.

Maybe for my 10th anniversary.

Still got a few years for that.

love the entry ali! it's become obvious to me from doing weddings that if someone spends money on a.) the dress and b.) lighting, it's going to be a beautiful event. its like ok you spend money there, you will have a nice event.
its hard for me to post too much more because obviously ali and i share some interests with weddings.... but if money was no object i think id like to have a swanky wedding in manhattan with the ceremony and reception at the same place (i hate when people have to travel all over for the two of them). monique lhuillier would be in charge of fashion obviously (thats a no-brainer), bentley-meeker would do the lighting, and from what little i know of the wedding planners in the city as a whole (there's only 10 million of them) id have marcy blum coordinate it. then we'd run off to a far away beach for the honeymoon and bring the photographer(s) with us for at least part of is.
if i had to be put on the spot and choose a photographer right now (and yes ali has done this), id say id want the combo of jessica claire and becker. love the two of them, their personalities, and how much them compliment each other.
the rest is all details that ali can take care of!

Alisha - I *love* Michael Parkes!! We've got a few posters in our living room and I've been working to try to get my husband a print for his birthday later this year (he's the first MP fan). We visited the gallery in Amsterdam last year, which was kinda cool.
I just got married 2 months ago, so there's a ton I would have loved to have done beyond what we did. I'll have to think on it, and post a bit later...

I would get married deep in the woods. With an arbor made from vines and wild-flowers.
...uhm... and windchimes and bells for music.
So, that's that.

Oooh, this is a cool topic.
I would definitely rent out a small island in the south pacific that has some luxury accomodations for all my close relatives and friends. Fly about 75 people out there, all expenses paid and just have an amazing time with everyone for a week. All the massages you can get, all the snorkelling and diving you can take and all the sun you can soak up. I would love to be able to give this to them all.
Of course, I would also fly in U2, Coldplay, Ben Folds, The Roots, Black Eyed Peas and Kanye West for an amazing reception concert!

I don't know what it would look like. But I know I would make everyone in the wedding start growing a mullet a year in advance - even the girls. Femmullets are so hot right now.

if i could do mine over again, i would have it on a beach in the caymans, wearing a very plain white spaghetti strap dress, my husband in his jeans and a white tshirt, with my family and friends there - i got married in england and had only my best friend there - everyone else were strangers, with the exception of my husband's small family. there is nothing stranger (and sad) then celebrating your big day with people who you dont even know their names!
but most of all, i wish my dad was alive and able to attend, even if it was jusst in my back yard.

I don't really think I would change much, even though we were super poor, paid for it ourselves, and spent less than 5K on everything, including dress, food, hall, church, second reception (for my parents), rings, honeymoon, etc.
If I could change anything, i would have hired a professional wedding photographer and maybe we would have taken our honeymoon to Alaska instead of Niagara Falls.
But, otherwise, our wedding was very much an extension of ourselves. Our friends helped us cook all the food and helped us set up and clean up (yes, we helped clean up from our reception!). But generally, our wedding was a labor of love from all of our friends, so I wouldn't it!

I asked my husband this and without pause he said "nothing our wedding was perfect the way it was" He pretty much hit the nail on the head. The only thing I would change would have been the reception. We had a small cake and punch reception. If I were to do it over again, I would have a bigger reception.
It was a small outdoor garden style wedding. It was perfect.

When I get married, I'll do most of the photos myself. (I don't want to be in many of them.)
And I'll get point-n-shoots for everybody - including the bridal party - and have them taking pictures all during the events and ceremony.

Dangit! I got really excited opening this thread because I thought there was 'big news' in it.
I would have had our wedding in October at the Larimore House. Having our anniversary in late July kind of limits activities because of the heat. Dang Global Warming!

that's an awesome idea. but i'd make sure they at least get me the photos. at our wedding we never saw any of the disposable camera pictures. i bet some of them were pretty funny too.
