Ok, so out here in the west Bridals pretty much don't exist. However, with all the hype from Trash the Dress and my overwhelming love for fashion photography, I've decided to go on a one woman mission to bring back bridals, and since I know the term "trash the dress" has become rather a touchy subject and sometimes conjures up negative reactions I've decided to call them Hitched and Haut, since they will be more of a fashion shoot than a trashing anyway. Wow... I'm babbleing... so anyway... I went out with my friend Melanie yesterday to get some pics to show everyone here in the southwest what the heck I'm talking about. You are a genious! So much of the dress trashing isn't truly trashing though anyway is it? If it can be cleaned it wasn't really trashed! I think even beyond the trashing that this growing trends of having brides in not normal places for them to be will even be more popular as time goes on. Bride's all want to do something different. But maybe not ruining the dress though.


BTW I have no problems with dress trashing, but this is a good alternative

Thanks Jason! I love trash the dress to, but I think it just makes people cringe when they first hear it, then after you explain they're like "oh, that's not that bad"

The second one is one of my favorites from the shoot as well, reminds me of some 4x5 work that I had seen done.



Thanks Patrick! For the second shot I did a strip blur in photoshop using the gaussian blur, like you would see in classic 4x5 images. (you use the gradient tool in the masking mode to make a horizontal stripe over the subjects face, flip back to regular and blur your surrounding selection) Then I created a new layer, filled it with black paint and choose render > fibers from the filters menu. I changed the layer blending mode to multiply and lowered the opacity until I liked what I saw. Finally I just erased out the bits on the rendered layer that I wanted to show through clearly, like her face. That's it, pretty simple.

Kadie, these are totally HAUTE! What a great friend you have and she is really photogenic! I'll bet you guys had a great time creating these photos. I'm going to totally steal your re-name as I can't get ANY of my brides to go the TTD direction and I've been trying to come up with a new name myself and yours is just PERFECT. Yeah sure, feel free to use, Wow I didn't know I'd be starting a revolution here And we did have a ton of fun creating the photos, that is until I stepped on a cactus... the dangers of living in the desert... although I probably shouldn't have worn flip-flops on a photo shoot, but it's just so darn hot here i can't bear to put shoes on!
