I am in the process of reconstructing my business and web site and I will be looking toward your guys' opinions about a lot of things pretty soon.

One of the first questions I have for anyone willing to share info is about print credits-

How do you explain how print credits work to the client, and how can I determine how much of a print credit I should give a couple based on my packages?

I do print credits. I think that is what you are talking about it. I offer $650 proof/album credit, ect. I used to only give a certian amount of credit but I have found brides want enough credit to at least get an album so I just raised my prices accordingly.

Thanks Alisha, that helped a lot. I have decided to take the albums out of my packages so that I can allow the bride to choose between a classic matted album or a magazine design style album.

The print credit idea will work out perfect for that.

Thanks SKy! And I tell them there package credits are toward ANYTHING THEY WANT! reprints, proof books, albums, parent albums. and so that's easy and they get 'anything'. lol!
This has worked really well for me since I also offer 2-3 different albums.

When I didn't offer enough credits to get at least the cheapest album I sorta got the feedback that I was trying to rip them off, sorta. And if they don't want an album they can always get $650 worth of prints!

I do print credits with my wedding and portrait packages. People have been really happy with the idea of being able to choose what they want instead of a set package. If you want I can email you my price sheet. My site is still in the works.
