Hey,
I am heading to SF in a couple of weeks to knock out 3 sessions, 1 Belly session, 1 Sr., and an E-session....and I need to come up with some different location ideas for the Sr. and E-Session.
Done the Palace of Fine Arts, the Marina, Baker Beach, etc, all the usual sites, I am looking for something new and different...any ideas?
I would greatly appreciate any advise, I am from Reno/Lake Tahoe, so I have only a surface knowledge of good locations in SF, I want something less touristy and more urban, fun, funky even a little off-the-wall!!

Thanks in Advance smile.gif

So funny you said that, I just (literally) googled Balmy Alley and found one of your photos on flickr. So, it that a cool sight? My Sr. is going to Art School (wants to be a photographer) and I though she would like something different and untraditional.

well...it's just one little alley with not a lot of landscape features....(pretty much just murals that you can stand in front of haha), and i'm sure it's shot a ton, but it's certainly colorful! here's my whole slideshow...http://jilliankay.com/slideshows/KennAndSaraiEng ...we walk around a couple blocks after the alley..

Oh - SF is one of our favorite places to go...

What about a couple hours strolling down Haight/Ashbury - there are a few cool shops around there...

You can also visit Chestnut street - right around the corner from the Palace of Fine Arts - there are a couple of cool restaurants and coffee shops there as well.

But don't discount the Palace if you havent been there recently - they redid the grounds and if it's a nice day it's a great place. Not for the entire day, but a good stop.

If your clients want to pay a little - then go out to Alcatraz for some pics.
If you are looking for a good urban setting, then go to Treasure Island.
Take a cable car ride.
Walk around China town.
Talk a ride on BART and shoot in the car.
Japanese Tea Gardens or pretty much anyplace in Golden Gate Park

Remember - the sites may be common to you, but probably won't be to your client, so don't avoid some of the "usual" places.

I'm sure there are more places, but it's late and my brain is fried. I'm sure someone else will have some great ideas also.

There are a few spots in Golden Gate Park. You can visit the DeYoung Museum ot the Tea Garden. You can go over to 9th Avenue and Irving which is close to the DeYoung. Great shops and restaurants.

Anywhere downtown would work. It's urban, cool, and hip. Lots of alleys down there.
