Hello
I just notice this past few days a lot of noise in my pictures when shooting with my 30D. The pictures are not underexposed, the ISO is 400 and still a lottttt of noise.
I'll send it to Canon pretty soon, but I was just wondering if anybody had this problem before.
I'll post some samples if I can figure out how...

Thanks

The 30D is pretty clean. But you can still get a lot of noise even at 400. Even if your subject is properly exposed, any darker backgrounds will come out noisier. So darker reception halls can cause this, unless you drag the shutter and bring the ambient levels up. Shooting at 400 with darker backgrounds will bring more noise than shooting 800 with a more balanced ambient lit background. Using something like the fill-light slider in post processing will really bring out the noise too.
So noise can also be dependant upon your shooting style and processing style. I try to exaggerate the noise on many shots on purpose, especially those converted to mono/duotone. In channel mixing, bringing up some channels in combination with lowering others can reduce or increase the noise that shows up.
The only way we can know is if you post samples with full exif data and whatever you may have done to process the images.

Max. single upload size: 400K... Once you done uploading... go to the area where it says choose files and put it into the post. Also, preview your messages to see if the pictures come in.

could you post the EXIF data and any processing you've done? How much did you increase/decrease the exposure? How much did you use the fill light slider? etc...
it will go a LONG way to helping you out.

Thank you Lloyd.
So I changed the exposure with 0.15 (exposure units...

) and the brightness with 0.22. This was all done in Aperture. That's all I did (plus converting it to JPG in order to post it). How would I copy and send you the EXIF?
Thanks again.

hmm, it's too small to make out any detail.
any chance you could host the raw file on a webspace somewhere?
