Hello everyone, I just bought my i curve stand for my 15inch powerbook and I am preparing to do my first reception slideshow next Saturday. Can any of you guys give me some tips to using an effective workflow to quickly upload and edit the images? (I don't have ShowIt yet) I am going to use i photo's slideshow in a loop with or without music.

Thanks in advance,

Sky

Well if you are a RAW shooter shot Raw +small jpg. That's for canon. I don't know about Nikon. I never do this without an asst. I usually shoot 512s early so when they are done I can dump them fast. I hand them to my asst and say dump this! smile.gif I don't edit. Not yet. I still have to upload CS2 to upload Show IT on my laptop.

When do you start editing, and how much time do you give yourself to prepare the slideshow? Also, how many images do you usually include in the show?

Here's what we did (we've only done it once but will be doing it at every wedding from now on). We loaded the cards that were full into the laptop. Then made a quick catalog in MediaPro. Quickly picked 30 or so images in the thumbnail view. Dragged them (which makes a copy) into another folder on the desktop. Made another quick catalog in iView MediaPro with the new folder, and ran the slide show there. With about 30 images, the show wasn't too long so people didn't feel like they were spending the whole evening staring at it. You could probably go to 50 or so without any problems.

On my PC, I make a folder with the date and the name of the couple. Then another folder called RAW and another folder called Slideshow. I copy about oh 20-30 images or so into the slideshow. I don't edit any of my images. I usually have my asst pick some of thiers and mine and I usually go over it once to see if I want to add or subtract anything. We are usually working on this all day. Since we dump cards thoughout the wedding.
There is usually a nice little break before the reception.
