I think they look nice, but the light seems a little too much for me, kinda ruins her nice color skin. But thats just me.

Welcome to OSP!!
And sorry, but I also agree. The images look too retouched, too overworked, especially for a 12 year old girl (or anyone for that matter). At her age, I assume she has a nice, young, natural complexion and skin tone. Let that show!!

I think that these are beautiful images. I also think that the first in a black and white with some good contrast would be a hugely striking photo.
Either way... she looks beautiful and her eyes are luminous. I say great job and welcome!

I agree with the skin being a little lacking in detail, but that could be overworked in PhotoShop or from just too much makeup on a young child. I have seen that several times with little girls doing pageants and kid modeling. You actually have a good butterfly lighting pattern on the second one.....which is commonly used in fashion lighting. Fashion lighting is often times a lot different from what people usually look for in portrait lighting because it tends to end up very flat to minimize the few imperfections that the models have. Unfortunately it can also lose the texture and detail that most people look for in portrait images.
It looks like you have a good set up for future practice sessions. If she is "inspiring" and you are learning.....you should make a great practice team that will yield you both a couple of great portfolios!!! Have her try all her different "looks" and you can try all kinds of lighting sets, or location sets. Keep shooting and keep posting and we can all keep learning as you do.

Welcome! Keep posting!
I agree with her skin looking overdone- I like my 12 year olds to look like 12 year olds. I know that you can't control what they come to you looking like- but I try not to go overboard with the pp on the younger kiddos.
