Hi, greetings from Orlando, Florida. I’ll write quickly because Hurricane Katrina is about to visit and I must check on my generator. My wife Joy and I have a growing photography business and we’re at what I guess we could call, a moment of truth.

Our primary business is weddings, about 25/ year. She always shot with me until the birth of our daughter in May. What a rewarding and challenging and graceful and frustrating experience. Two years ago we moved from Chattanooga, Tennessee to Orlando, Florida (sure don’t miss the rain, Nathan and Amber). And actually, David Smith (www.davidography.com), also from Chattanooga, and I have shared a lunch or two. What a super nice and exceptionally talented guy.

I’m not a full-time photographer, but I’m on the verge. Two years ago my wife would’ve gone crazy if I entertained the thoughts of going full time. But now she’s actually the one pushing me…my biggest fan. Indeed I am blessed.

Now that she’s at home being a mom, she manages the contracts and paperwork and all the other aspects of the business that I don’t really enjoy. In her fleeting spare moments she discovered this forum and DJ’s website through WPJA. Very cool, guys.

To those in the East who are keeping score, add another point to your total. And for the half-a-handful of Nikon users, keep the faith.

Finally, since I’m a newbie I figured there’s not better time to ask a newbie question than now: what in the world is a “Chimper”? Is that something we’re all aspiring to?

Welcome to one of the best photography forums on the web. We have much in common. I'm part-time getting ready to go full-time, my wife also works with me, and I'm in Orlando. Actually Oviedo near UCF.

I also use Macs. G4s, Cinema Displays, PowerBooks. Wouldn't have it any other way.

You have great work. Nice job on the shots at Cypress Groves:-) I did a wedding there last year.

We should definitely have coffee or lunch sometime.

GARRETT NUDD! I'm glad you made it here! Now your safe. Long time no see. I discovered your website a few months ago and boy was I blown away. You've come a long way! Thats awesome. I am pretty new to this forum myself and have been kind of shy around here but they all seem friendly. The amount of talent here is very inspiring. See you on the forums....glad theres another person I know here. And I to am a Nikon user...at least when it comes to the glass.

Oh my, this is SO funny!
