I've been borrowing some lenses for wedding shoots and I'm finally ready to purchase my own! I'm currently shooting with at 28-70mm f/2.8, 50mm/f1.8 and a 70-200mm f/2.8. I want to buy some really pristine, new, wide open lenses... anyone have any suggestions on which I should buy??? I shoot with the Nikon D200 and I'm ready to get some super crisp shots. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Since you asked for just 2:

28-70mm
70-200mm

After that something wider than 28mm for fun and a good macro lens for ring/detail shots.

Enjoy

I have a hard time parting with the 70-200. Image Stabilizer is a must! might as well make the investment right off the bat.

Other than those two, perhaps a good wide angle lens - - aside from large group shots (where it can be a must), the 24-70 sometimes isn't quite as wide as I like it to be - - in which case I switch over to the wide for those scene setter shots and landscape portraits. Also fun for getting ready shots!

Hey there Lisa,

I use my 17-55 and my 70-200 for most of my work. I just pulled out my 85 1.8 and that lens is crazy. I love how sharp it is and how it allows me to work in lower light.

If you are doing weddings. I would really think hard about getting a macro. Or at least a lens baby for ring shots. Matt A showed a trick here a bit ago about putting two lenses front to front for a SUPER zoom on things like rings. It would great for me at home, but... a macro might be easier...

So the two lenses I am looking at next:
105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor
10.5mm f/2.8G ED AF DX Fisheye-Nikkor

PS - you might think about renting anything new you want to try. Some places will let you put the rental charge towards a purchase.

Best of luck,

You want super crisp, then you want primes.

85 1.8
50 1.4
Macro for the ring shots.

I just switched back to Canon, but when I shot Nikon, I shot with a couple of D200's. The order I got my lenses was.

1. 17-55 f/2.8 DX and 70-200 f/2.8 VR at the same time.
2. 50 f/1.4
3. 85 f/1.4
4. 10.5 f/2.8 Fishy
5. 105 f/2.8 VR

Personally, I think it's a no brainer, go for my number 1!
