DJ did a little video a while back kind of showing the basics w/ bridge and utilizing the preset capability of Bridge.
Here's the linkI'm almost totally using Lightroom now, but I still have a special place in my heart for Bridge. My Bridge workflow is:
1. Get all the images into one folder, open it up in Bridge
2. As Bridge loads and sorts all the images, I go through and cull the images I know for sure I don't want (bad exposure, expressions, etc)
3. Apply a default setting to all the images (Auto everything, some vignette, minor curve action)
4. Go through and run presets on groups of images
It's not that different from how I use Lightroom, it's just in Lightroom the presets you can do are much more powerful and useful. You'll be fine with Bridge, don't feel that you NEED to get Lightroom.
You can
grab DJ's Brilliant Presets (for Bridge and Lightroom) but if you've been around Photoshop for a while, you should have no problem creating your own presets. The Brilliant Presets are good, but you can definitely come up with great ones on your own.
