Canon's 1d Mark IIn might be the camera to buy with it's ability to write different formats simultaneously to SD and CF cards! If this means what I think it means you could leave one SD card in the camera for the whole wedding collecting all of your sJPG files making downloading for the slideshow a breeze!!!

They didn't even know that a new Mark II was coming out! haha

I made the joker get on the web b/c he wouldn't start a list until he knew there was an actual camera.

Was looking at the specs for the new camera and I think I know why you are so hot-to-trot for the new camera:
"The improved display enables viewing angles up to a remarkable 170 degrees from any direction."
Should make it perfect for group chimping.

Well Jim, I don't chimp (on going joke....uhh....I mean fact.....here on the forum), but I'm sure that's why DJ ordered two of them the morning they came out.

I'm dreaming about this one too. It is a must have, right on top of the list. I don't get the 5D though? Full sensor-o.k. but nine af points with six supplemental on a non- weather proof body for a few hundred less...maybe I'm missing something?

I'm # 217 on the list at B&H.

Does anyone know...will the Mark IIn allow RAW + s-jpeg? The specs on dpreview are inconclusive but the specs on the B&H site they seem to indicate just RAW and large-jpeg....

Yes they will allow this. Even better, they allow you to do the two different formats to two different cards. So you could have the RAWs going to the CF cards and the JPEGs going to the SD card. Pretty nifty.
Tim.....
Do you have hard evidence that I chimp? ..........
I didn't think so.

K... Chris, the next time you need an assistant at a wedding, call me, I'll come. Geez, I might even shoot for free. Not with any motives, just the pure aspirations to make beautiful pictures....

Oh, and to put this back on topic...
Chris, let's wait til those new Mark IIn's come in, and I'll let you shoot with it, that way (just in case) if you want to chimp, it'll be easier for me to show people that you were actually looking at a picture...
Chris Humphreys
September 16 2005, 06:18 AM
you wanna shoot for free to just prove I chimp?
This will be great. I'll get a free shooter and Tim will go away really frustrated when he realizes I REALLY don't chimp.
AWESOME!
So, Tim when do you want to shoot?
Tim Halberg

Make you a deal, if I don't get a single shot of you chimping, I'm free for the day, but for each picture I get of you chimping I get $25 at the end of the day...? (motor drive sequences only counting as 1 shot)

Tim,
That is a good idea, but I'm too nice of a person. I know DJ doesn't pay you much, so even though it would be SOO against my nature I would have no moral choice but to FORCE myself to chimp just to make sure you were well fed.
Besides that, you would probably try to pull something lame like catching me while I was looking at the TOP display (with all the exposure, WB, focus mode info) and say I was chimping just cause you were desperate and had no "real" shots of me chimpin.

Or, he'd get one of you formatting cards before the first image is captured!

Haha... I ran into that problem when I was shooting pictures of Dane chimping in Texas... so we made a rule, you had to be able to tell that a picture was actually up on the screen in order for it to count.. and me and DJ just made a new rule, it doesn't count unless you make a "creative" picture of the other person chimping.
But, I appreciate the chimping for Tim's pocketbook sake :-)
