I shot a small wedding this afternoon, and the pained expression on this ring-boy's face is how I felt after leaving the reception. Oh, the wedding & reception were OK. But while I was packing up my gear outside, I somehow managed to pick up my camera after loosening the wide-angle zoom (Canon 17-40) that was attached and juggled unsuccessfully to keep it from falling to the sidewalk. I watched it fall in slow motion and crash to the ground. It still works, but the zoom mechanism is damaged, so I've got to take it into Canon for what most likely be an expensive repair. This is the first time I've ever damaged any of my equipment. So. . .let this be a reminder to everyone to handle their precious gear with kid gloves.

OH Christopher! Sorry about your lens bro! Ever since I moved I haven't had my gear insured and I'm beginning to freak out about it. I'm gonna go in tomorrow and get the coverage started again.

Nice shot of the little guy though!

DJ, Where do you insure your equipment.

Thanks for the sympathy. . .much appreciated. I have good news, though. I have insurance on my camera gear and just spoke with an agent this morning. They will pay for the repair or replacement (if necessary) of the lens! I've got a $100 deductible, but that's a lot less than than the repair or replacement would have cost me.
Alan, my insurance is through Marsh Affinity Group, which offers group rates to PPA members. I've been insured for years, but have never needed to file a claim. camera.gif
