Didn't even think to post a request for a hook up on Maui here on OSP. Worth a shot, right?

Three of us are planning to attend our friends wedding on Aug 23 that's between Kihei and Wailea. The location hasn't been nailed down yet - it's a beach ceremony but they're staying in Kihei and hoped for the wedding in Wailea. We hope to fly down on the 21st and come back on the 27th (no airfare yet either).

We've been searching the internet for a hotel, motel, condo, time share, etc. but not sure how to pick it. None of us have been there so deciding on a place then finding out it's ghetto or unsafe would really suck. I need a mattress (bad back) but the other 2 don't care if they're on a couch or floor - just need a roof and doors that lock hahaha. We're all non-smokers/drinkers, responsible and clean... if there is a possibility of renting a room(s) or paying to stay at a vacant house.

I could provide references from reputable OSPers wink.gif

Any suggestions or offers?

Shannon, we've stayed at Village by the Sea (Kauhale Makai) in Kihei about three times now (including during last year's earthquake!!) & we LOVE it there - very clean accomodation, swimming pool, barbeque area, sauna & the best bit is the outside hot-tub! It's right on the beach (not the best for swimming) but lovely to walk along in the morning & it's pretty much at the start of Kihei as you're driving in from Kahului. The condo we stay in is on the 5th floor & has a view of the pool & the beach - it only has one bedroom (double bed) but I think the sofa was a sofa-bed. Anyways, I'm going to see if I can find the email of the couple that own the condo and PM it to you.

Other than that, there's one place you MUST go and have lunch at... it's a local spot called Eskimo Candy in Kihei. It's not along the main road but if you're interested I can explain where it is to you but they do the BEST teriyaki chicken & clam chowder & seafood pasta ... it's a small family run place, very friendly, always full of locals, huge portions of food but very well-priced. And if you like sushi, try Sansei! For the last ten years we've ended up in Maui five times and we spend almost two months at a time there so I could go on & on & on & on & on & on... but I won't!!!

So, Maui in August & Mexico in November ... now I'm even more jealous!!!!

OK I can help. I have friends with condos here. Call Kathy Englert at 1-808-205-6060. Thats her cell. She is the wife of the pastor of our church and they have several condos she manages. All nice but not too pricey and very clean and ocean front. Call her with your with exact dates and she might be able to hook you up.

My studio is a block away from Eskimo Candy. My friends own it. Yes if you still need it I can help. I would get your air reservations first so you know the exact dates. I think I will be in Africa when you are here:( If the trip gets postponed lets get together.

the Grand Wailea is awesome and worth it! We have been there for times in 6 years!!!

Actually Paris Hilton is hiding out there:

It's a great location and right next to the Four Seasons and it's own private beach!

Hey my inlaws have a time share in Maui. I haven't been there but apparently it is pretty nice. They are always renting it out. PM me and I will get you in touch with them.
Lucky Red Hen
Sofie - eXACTly what I like to hear... thanks!

Matt - think the Grand Wailea is about $400/night higher than we were hoping for (but maybe hubby and I will try there when we go sometime).

Well, if you go, make the best of it! Seriously with 4 ladies, you should be able to get something. But, there is no other place I would rather go. That place keeps us going back!!!

I KNOW! And when I'm rolling in the dough I'll be staying at a $450/night hotel laughing.gif... until then, we're on the cheap, dangit.
