I went last year and it was awesome. I am planning on going again this year.

I didnt know Photoshop did a Vegas thing! I am so jazzed! I checked it out and its way out of our budget to bring our 2 employees ( our adult kids ). We desperately need to get them into the photoshop end of things here at the business. I noticed that they are offering that if you can find a NAPP member who cant make it you can use their discount which is like $100 off the price. We might be able to swing it if we had that kind of a discount.

If you or anyone you might know that is a member that isnt going and would like to help us out please let us know...

Thanks!
Kerri

Kerri, I'm a member of NAPP and not going. If I can help, I'd like to. One quick comment though, if you are trying to get your kids/employees into the photoshop end of this business Photoshop World probably isn't for them. It's three or four days of back to back seminars and should be attended by people who have a good foundation of photoshop knowledge. I only say this because I don't want to see somebody invest hundreds of dollars into something and not get a return on it. A friend of mine just did a week long class with Kevin Kubota which was for intermediate to advanced photoshop users. More than half the class didn't quite fit into that category and were pretty much lost during the whole class. Personnaly I'd invest my money into WPPI or DWF conventions instead of Photoshop World. Plus those conventions are geared a little more towards our industry. Just my 2 cents, hope you don't mind. Even after that rant I'm still will to help you if you need.

One of the first things i did when i first started by business was going to the napp in miami. It is great for bookwork. You get a huge like phone book with all the notes from the seminars from every class. i however do not learn like that. i learn hands on, so for me i hardly learned anything. I didnt learn posing, lighting, marketing, how to run a business. its very tech. i am so not good with the tech stuff. scott kelby is amazing but i have learned more just by reading his books and doing the step by steps in his books. i couldnt live without photoshop but these seminars did not help me as much as i would have liked to. really look into why you want to send them. what are your goals from the outcome? i have found my best knowledge has come from one on ones from other photographers. If you have no knowledge of photoshop i find the classes to be very overwhelming. But they are super excellent. If i were in a different place as a photographer i probably would have benefitted a lot from this, but still 2.5 years later i wouldnt do it again, yet =)

Hey Tiffany,
Yup, I've known about it since I'm a member, tempting, oh so tempting... BUT I can't swing it this year, maybe next year.

Kerri you can use my NAPP membership however that works, just let me know.

I don't mind your 2 cents. That's the whole point of a forum is to share what we know and you did it in a positive and polite way thumbsup.gif

Oh wow I am so happy to see all these comments! My husband and I went to WPPI this past April and wished we could have brought the kids but they were finishing up school. One graduating college the other high school.

I think after reading these comments that this Photoshop Workshop will be overwhelming to them since they are just getting to that part of the business. They have been shooting with us but we want them to know the other side so they can start their own business or take over ours someday if they want.

Ron and Rowena...I deeply appeciate the offers to extend your NAPP spots to us and you dont even know us. But I find OSP is like that! thumbsup.gif

Thank you all for your $.02 ...! I think we will save up or WPPI for all of us and have them take some PS classes at the community college here.

So I've been wondering, do they have master level courses? Cause half the trouble is getting yourself out of your normal workflow and sharpening up - but I'd need some major sharpening - like Caponigro or something...

So were the things you learned big things? or just more 'shortcuts'?
Tiffany Izatt
sweet, thanks all for replying. I think I got the answers! Woo hoo! I love OSP!
