On this topic, I'm really kinda pissed that I've been paying for all this music... I'm a good boy and I've spent hundreds of dollars in the iTunes Music Store (I have 782 songs in my "Purchased Music" folder)...

But now I recently got a Treo650 with a built in MP3 player... GREAT! But who has MP3s anymore!? Even when I rip a CD into iTunes it's not saved as an MP3! Does anyone have creative solutions to get around this? I'm a good guy (sortof)... I've done the right thing in getting my music legally... I own 3 iPods, but I want more!!

Why can't a guy just rock out on his cell phone? mad.gif

Suggestions, anyone?

No worries...there is a way to change the import format to mp3. Go the the iTunes preferences and then choose 'importing'. You should be able to choose the MP3 format under "Import Using:" pop-up menu. By default iTunes uses Apple's AAC format. You should also have options for wav format as well, although those of course would be very large files.

Hope that get's you listening to tunes on your 650!

Wait... I'm retarded... I must have clicked the wrong button.. I meant to post this as a reply to somone else's post, but I guess now I've started my own, lol.

Oh well -- keeps me from hijacking anyways.

Still - any suggestions for my cell dilemma?

Thanks, JT! That totally helps for my future imports...

But now I don't suppose there's any way to convert purchased music to an MP3 kinda format somehow?

I'm sure that someone's written some software that will do just that, but I'm sure Apple doesn't quite approve. biggrin.gif

I'm sure you can burn a CD of MP3s. Then just copy the files from the CD to your hard drive, or phone, or whatever.

If you go to your iTunes burn preferences you can burn as MP3 or wave.

What I think the problem is, and I missed it before, is that you're only allowed to burn purchased music a couple times. After that, I think the restrictions kick in.

Ahh... I know what you're talking about. That happened to me too. I subconciously...ok maybe conciously justified well... I did pay for it so I'm just gonna "retrieve" it from limewire LOL.
Good luck.

Billy, did you ever get this sorted out?

No, not really... Limewire's been my best bet.. I just hate the pain of doubling up on music I already have.

The only other thing I've thought of is using WireTap (a great download) to re-record all the songs as Wavs or MP3s... It just means I have to wait and listen to them all, too.

For now, the SD card popped out of my Treo somewhere, so until I grab another, I'm not sweatin this at the moment... but I still want it!!

You're a bright one, Tim... Any suggestions? 51.gif
