Since our recent move to SLO, we've ditched our land line and are just using cell phones. We love the new setup except now we have no fax capabilities. We don't fax that often, and only receive 1 or 2 a year, but it is a real pain when we need to send or receive one and have to trek to Kinko's mad.gif. So what are other people doing? I've checked out eFax (they have a free trial, and so far it looks pretty sweet) but haven't come across anything else. Any suggestions?

I've used eFax for years... they're great for receiving, but kinda harder to send with if you're on a Mac... Also, sending is hard if you don't have a digital file to start with.

Otherwise - it works great! I've tried a few other services, but every time I keep going back to eFax. You might also look into getting a VOIP landline if you're avoiding the phone company.

I only use my cell too... so much easier. smile.gif

Thanks for the input Billy! I'm debating about VOIP as well and simply haven't had enough time to really make a decision on any of this yet. Glad to know that eFax worked for you!

<raises hand> Another eFax user here....going on four years, IIRC. Really easy to use. Billy has indicated the main drawback (files that are not digitized take a bit longer). Also, the delivery times to your Inbox can sometimes take a couple hours. MOST of the time it's a few minutes. But every so often you get zinged.

I've used eFax for years also. And I don't have any issues sending on a Mac (OS 10.4). I don't use faxes much but I've never had any complaints about eFax either.

I've been debating this same question.

I have used efax for years. In my real job I probably received 100 pages a week and send about the same. You can fax by sending an email to
phone #@efaxsend.com and it will fax to that fax # with your electronic attachment. Receiving is free, sending is about $.10 a page.

You can alls annotate / make notes on a received fax and forward back or print to a pdf file and email the changes or fax them back. Good for a contract, and then send originals in the mail.

Try http://drop.io.

Free sending directly from your computer and receiving too, however the sender faxing you must use a special cover page.
