Well, I'm not completely illiterate, but when something this easy gives me trouble, I gotta wonder. I've been uploading all my images into my laptop at the wedding to make a mini-album for the couple before they leave (and hopefully will start shows soon). I burn a DVD and then download all the images into my desktop when I get back to the office- to be Lightroomed. (Yes, it's a verb now. smile.gif )

Anyways, I'm having problems with the sharing of the files from my laptop (running xp sp2) to my desktop (also wik xp sp2). Sometimes 'my network places' pops up, sometimes not. When it does, sometimes the linky thing (the icon showing the connection) exists on the file, sometimes not. It's very frustrating because there seems no ryhme or reason to it. And it changes back and forth.

Anyone have any ideas? Have any of you experienced this, too? Just looking for a little help.

Thanks!

Any ideas well I would recommend either burning them on a disc and then putting that disc onto your PC and throwing the pictures on that way. I used to do that threw the network but it was a pain and took forever.

Also maybe a portable drive to throw the images on like a jump drive, or portable hard drive for the laptop. Anyway maybe these will work better.

Thanks for the reply Stewart. But I reeeaaalllyyy don't want to burn them first and transfer them that way if I can help it.....it undermines my whole "get more efficient" thing. ohmy.gif) A jump drive might not be as bad, but it'd have to be fast. Oh, I don't have a usb on the front of my machine so that would be harder to access. This usually works fine for me, but here recently it's been acting funny. I was just wondering if I could've changed a setting inadvertantly. But I don't know what to look for.

Mac here i come??
