How to make your very own Bazooka flash!
I use this little fun device now and then, on some of my portrait shoots when I want some dramatic spotlighting. I thought I would share how it's made.
Now I didn't invent this thing, I had seen it on a website years ago and I can't find the site any longer.
Here's how it's made
Ingredients:
One camera flash
A small piece of PVC pipe
1 Flexible Pipe Connector
I added a hanger to give the PVC some support when it's on my stand and I also added some black spray paint just to make it look cool!
Here is what the bazooka looks like:

Here are a few of the results:

The results look great. But can u give us a detailed view of your construction? How do you fit the Bazooka to the flash?

Thanks.

Here you go... it just slips into the back(I added a flash light diffuser for a better fit)...Just bring your flash to the hardware store so that you can find the connector with the best fit.

Very cool snoot! Thanks for the info!

Outside the box. I love it.

But I'd suggest going with white PVC - you may get more punch out of it.

Fun! I've been meaning to make a snoot. I was going to go with taped up black plastic. Maybe I need to be cooler!

Is that a mamiya C 330...I hardly ever get mine out anymore. The day I do get it out is a day of darkroom therapy!

I rigged one of these up today and we'll be experimenting with it a little bit (hopefully) at a TTD session today. I'll try to post photos later. I haven't tried to rig is so that it actually sits on a tripod yet. The PVC is pretty heavy and puts a LOT of strain on the flash shoe and the rotating flash head so some kind of bracket like Steve made is very necessary if you don't want an assistant to have to hold it for you the whole time.

Yeah it's nice to have extra hands if you can get it because the PVC can be heavy. The brace works well when you don’t have anyone to help… Tell me how it works out for you!

Ah, Rollei's are good cameras! I have one, but it has a pinhole in it so I never use it...well, Ok, so I don't use anything that requires loading film these days.

Strobist.com is all about off camera lighting, I'm hooked on it. I have cardboard ones and chloroplast grids and black straw grids and an addiction to anything off camera... So image how psyched I was when I saw this biggrin.gif I'm going straight to the DIY shop tomorrow biggrin.gif
