Full Version: Importing Directly From CF Card

Hi Everyone,

So, I am on an iMac with 512Mb of Ram (it needs more, but this shouldn't be happening). When I am importing directly from the CF card via card reader or from the camera, after any number of images, Lightroom just freezes up. I have to Force Quit or sometimes even turn the computer completely off to get it to work again. This happens whether or not I am applying an affect upon import.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Right now, I am just using the Canon software to download the images and then importing them to lightroom. It only happens when lightroom is getting them directly from the CF card.

I'm just curious if others have experienced this and if there is any solution out there.

Thanks!

if i try importing directly through Light room, it misses pictures. I found like 100 missing ones last time. So I quit doing that, and just downloaded them to a folder and import through the folder, which seems fine.

but, my lightroom still freezes a lot. i'm on winxp, 4gb ram....freezes like a snow cone whenever i'm importing more than 1000 photos (ie, every wedding)

i'm just hoping the next release is more stable. i just went through a 10 minute comedy routine where every time i adjusted exposure, the photo would turn upside down. and then the red, backwards, upside down "out of memory" message appeared.

don't import directly from the cards - not good. lightroom creates a database. If you then remove the card, file not found. Not what you want.
