Hi, guys!
I am starting to get into horse show photography on non-wedding weekends. I need to set up a good print-ordering system. Is there a good, reasonably priced "shopping cart" style template I can use? My requirements are that it be user-friendly and that I can add descriptions to each photo (to clearly label it with the class and exhibitor name/number).
Pictage is a big no for me since they've cheesed me off too much to work with them. I'm open to learning about pretty much any other system. I prefer to do print fulfillment myself since I want to work with WHCC (brand loyalty - they've won my love for all eternity. I am easily bribed with tootsie pops, apparently), so a service like SmugMug that prints their own stuff isn't something I'd be interested in.
Thanks!

For me Pictage IS the best solution but if you're really wanting to do it yourself, my buddy Becker keeps telling me PickPic is the best solution out there. I hope that helps.

Cool - I will check that out! Thanks for the recommendation.

PicturesPro.com is what i just got. it was a huge decision for me. i had my computer guy look into it and he thought it was the best choice for now. it has room to grow for me but had an expense. i couldnt go with a % fee each time. i am too small for that and i also didnt want others being able to download the images, so this works great. i download the images and it puts the stamp all over my images and lowers the quality all without extra work for me. lovin that! also i love that it shows them what the pictures kinda look like cropped and in sepia and b&w. it looks slick for me and my small business.
good luck

I went with
Red Cart. You can pay monthly with hosting or buy the program outright. It was developed for photographers using WHCC, and Tommy Tompkins has been a great help.

You might also want to try EzPhotoSales
http://www.ezphotosales.com/I know many who love the ease of use and flexibility. You can still fulfill your orders at the lab of your choice.

Hmmm...lots of decision-making to do. I like the automatic compatibility of RedCart with WHCC's products. And I like the fully customizable and branding options of PickPic. But the low cost of EZ is pretty appealing, too. And PicturesPro looks REALLY easy and super fast to use.
At least I've got a couple of weeks to figure out what I want to do! Thanks, everybody!

Another vote for PickPic here... just picked it up and it's an AWESOME piece of software!
Definitely would love to hear what you end up going with and why. It's always good to hear what's out there and what works for different people's needs.

I will let you know for sure!
It looks like I'll be shooting four or five shows this summer starting July 22, so I should have an answer for you soon.
Ugh - that first show is the day after a wedding. No vacation time for Libbie in July!

I imagine most of us won't get much of a break in July... ;-)
I've been using exposuremanager.com for about 18 months and it's been very good. Their lab is great, and I can self fulfill anything I want. One of the big selling points when I signed up with them was being able to upload low res display only images rather than full resolution images. Also no iimits on number of gallleries or time limits (I never delete galleries, just hide them from view, that way if a client begs me to turn it back on, it's easy).
Feel free to email, pm or call me if you want more info...

You should also look at collages.net. I think the interface from the customer's perspective is terrific. I have made a few suggestions to them which I hope they'll implement, but overall it's great.
Also, their in-house print fulfillment is quite good.
