They are master marketers, I'll give them that. Suspense, not even a peep of the calling plans. I was in Apple store the other night trying to get some more details and they swear they haven't even been told a word. No guess as to how many phones will arrive, nothing. Just next Friday at 6pm is all they know or could share.

Actually, I'm debating whether to goto the Apple store or the Cingular store as I'll be porting over a phone number, doing the new family plan thing, and all that. Maybe the store is better. It'll be interesting to see if they have a big to-do over it, or if it'll just be the geeks behind the counter going "uhhh....... uh...... yea.... yea..... I think we're supposed to start selling those...... uhhhhhhhh...... it's in this box.... uh....... " Flip a coin maybe.

Anyway.... the demo above, all the hype (I watched the full hour and whatever debut keynote) this thing is sweeeet. Sign me up.

all I know is that there will only be one carrier in Canada with them (and not the one that I'm with) and that we won't get any until well after Xmas....

I'm looking forward to Friday, excited for everyone else but won't be purchasing one until the next generation. Update us when you get yours!

Good thing that my contract is up with my carrier in late July and I'll be out of the country (no need for phone) between now and then - cz I can't wait to try this baby out *drooling too for a phone that doesn't break every 5 seconds and for the day I can lop my treo into a big wave*

jessica and i will be camping out at the irvine apple store thursday night along with a couple of our friends. we plan on blogging live from the campout because we are just that geeky.

I plan to go skipping up to the store around 5:45. Hopefully there won't be a line of 97 people in front of me. We don't live in a huge mega collage cool hipster area, so I don't thing there will be quite an insane turnout here. I'm really thinking visiting the Cingular store direct is the way to go. There won't be any party happening there though. The fireworks and streamers will be at the apple store. But they probably won't know all the super details about plans, switching phone numbers, adding family members, etc etc.

Such a stressful choice to make in the next 5 days.

We asked at a Cingular store how many iPhones would they get and the guy said only 5. Now, I don't know if that is true, but it was a big bummer for us since I can't camp out for one

Waste of $600 if you ask me. I'd rather spend the money on photography toys. All I need a phone to do is let me hear the other person talk while they can hear me talk.

It is cool...for sure...just not worth the money.

Im looking forward to it and I am as big a MacHead as anyone else on this forum but I am actually going to wait until gen 2 comes out. Honestly...8 Gigs is NOT going to cut it for me. At Apple's pace, Gen 2 of the iPhone will probably be out by November of this year. Im looking forward to at least 16 gigs Besides, Leopard doesn't come out until October...the 2 are going to make a killer experience

The 2nd this phone was announced, I called our local Cingular dude, Johnny Baily in lubbock Texas and put my name on the list. I'm on the top. He called last week to remind me of their launch and I'm so EXCITED!!!!!

My contract expired in March, so I'm ready to sign over 2 more years again!
