I don't know how many of you out there are travel photographers, or just photographers who travel a lot.. but just wondering if 6x zoom is enough for a compact camera with enough SLR-like features.
The camera I really want to get is the Canon G7 but what is holding me back is not the fact that there is no RAW or swivel screen (as has been mentioned countless times) but the fact that I would prefer something with at least 10x zoom.
Do you think I need that much zoom?
The other contender was the S3 IS but my understanding as the image quality is better in the G7, also it's more compact and it has a hot shoe for the flash, you can get a waterproof case for it, and other things that the S3 does not have.
If it had a better zoom i'd buy it in a second! I don't know if waiting for the G8 will bring results either and I'd probably be waiting too long.
