ali and i are going to the beach next week for a little mid-season vacation. i have a favor to ask of my OSP peeps...... can you edit my weddings for me while im gone? just kidding of course (or am i?). while i kick my feet up, build sand castles with lillie, and get cleaned out playing craps and blackjack id like to knock out 2 books. i realize many (ok all) of you read much more than i do, so id like to use this time to motivate myself to catch up on a little bit of reading.

so i need some of you bookworms to break down the absolute must reads right now. if a person could only read 2 books what would those books be? ive read some of the ones talked about here on OSP like rich dad poor dad and selling the invisible, but really i want people to break down what are the two best books out there right now period.

much appreciated everyone, im really excited to dive into some of these books for inspiration and ideas!!

PS - Deej made a blog post about the book punk marketing and it sounded pretty interesting...

No question about it, anything by Jeffrey Gitomer. His sales books are all about maximizing revenue while making the client feel great. It is an excellent way to make some more money while still staying respected by your clients.

ONE - getting in the right mindset to get your clients to buy
Little Red Book of Selling

TWO - replying to any and all real and possible client objections
Little Red Book of Sales Answers

His books take no time at all to read, seriously, you'll burn through one of his books in a few hours.

You can take me out to lunch with the extra money you make wink.gif

Two best....yikes.

For what though?

Marketing & business it's
1) Primal Branding
2) Good to Great

Networking it's
1) Good to Great
2) Creating Customer Evangelists

Photography it's
1) Light Science & Magic
2) Skin

So depends...

Overall if you haven't read Light, Science & Magic and you haven't read Good to Great, I say go with those.

Congrats on the wedding bee article too btw!

(and if you want a library to pick through, come over - you can borrow anything other than Skin & LSM... those are two of our newest books! haha)

i need to come over matt! dont forget to block out a date in the last 2 weeks of july to come up to the lakehouse again this year, i want you and sarah there again smile.gif

definitely looking towards the business, branding, marketing, and buzz books.... definitely not the photography books.

some books on creating buzz would be interesting as well....

I have Buzz Marketing, Creating Customer Evangelists, Never Eat Alone, Brand Aid, Primal Branding, Marketing Without Advertising, Selling the Invisible, Permission Marketing, and Success Secrets of Online Marketing Superstars.

We'll definitely block out a date - we're out of town the week of like the 18th through the 25th but 26, 27, 30, 31 - you let us know! haha

Seriously if you wanna come snag a few books & bring them back when you're done, my library is open to ya. smile.gif

+1 for Never Eat Alone

I just got it and am reading through it. I'm really enjoying it.

For Branding I enjoyed U R A Brand by Catherine Kaputa.

If you get tired of reading stuff for business, check out David Foster Wallace's A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again... far less helpful but probably far more enjoyable than anything by Dale Carnegie. smile.gif
