Full Version: Lightroom: Importing Raw + Large Jpg

Hi Everyone,

Ok, so, I wanted to compare Raw vs Jpg. I thought the best way to do this would be to simply have the 5D take Raw + Large Jpg. However, when I import them into lightroom with 'ignore duplicates' option unchecked, I still only get the raws!

Any ideas on how to import all of them? I actually want the duplicates. smile.gif

Thank you ahead of time!!!

P.S. - I admit, all I did to try to resolve this was to press different buttons, look in the preferences, and look in the help section (not thoroughly in the help section either). I will continue to try to figure this out today, but I just thought one of you guys/gals might know right off hand.

Spencer,
Currently LR will use the jpegs as previews. If you look wou will see they were moved over to your folder but not show in LR. Wha you need to do is
a/ Inport to folder on your HD from your card. [helps make sure you don't get hiccups on import]
b/ Rename the jpegs something different than raw [or move to separate folder]
c/ import

Thanks. This worked, but I wish there was a work-around. Thanks for the quick info. Still can't decide to use Raw or not with the 5d, but that discussion has been beaten quite a bit. smile.gif

When you click import and then choose your folder it says "Ignore suspected duplicates" - if you have this box checked, I believe it will only import the raws. If you uncheck it, possibly it will import all of them?

Tried it with it checked and unchecked. All I see are the raws. The work-around is the only thing that has worked so far. It is good enough, I was just wanting to compare the same jpg to raw to see which I'd rather shoot in. I think it might be a lighting/time of day thing for me.

Swan has hinted there is a fix in LR 1.1. I have yet to see a release date for that...

As I mentioned, it *does* move the jpegs over, but doesn't show them in LR. Drove me batty for a long time. Went to the KB on the adobe site and finally found the answer.. hours before our own Swan got back to me..
