Full Version: Blogs as Websites?

OK, I've been thinking about this for quite some time and want to bounce it off you guys.

Now and then I run across a really nice looking blog like www.j-roumagnac.net and begin to think I'd like to have a blog like this rather than a website for my business. It would be easy to update and always current.

Does anyone know of places that offer really cool blog sites like Julien's? I want something on a higher level than Blogger or Wordpress.

Thanks,

Bruce

I custom designed my Movable Type site about a year ago. It is a blog. I can add pics, text, accept comments, and have links to static pages, too.

I'm never looking back to a flash site.

Every few days I put up a new BIG picture from a recent wedding. Clients know to check ONE site.

I did custom design the site myself - but I know of at least one sie Pixyblog, that offers some cool templates.

Mine is not that great but it's a WordPress blog. I think that Matt Antonino's sites are also blogs, but not sure. And I agree with Eric, with the ability to create multiple pages and add all kinds of customization and plug-ins, a normal site makes less and less sense to me.

Bruce,
I think you definitly can. I would look at squarespace as a website/blog solution. It allows things like a constant front page that I think would make it work very well!

if i did that i would get the guy who designed jessica claire's and i think he did becker's too.

My MattAntonino.com site is a blog. My Picture Infinity site isn't - but I've thought about it. The idea of having a blog for a site as itself is a good idea and I would do it. I love my CMD site but I wanted to do a blog if we didn't get the flash site.

This is something I've been considering also. I really like the idea, but I'm not sure how I would handle large image galleries for clients. I currently use Pictage but want to find a different solution. Anyone have suggestions on this?

I think a blog can work as the main site as long as you don't CALL it a blog. It has to be different, fresh, NOT look like b's and jc's and not look like a blog at all.

Like Eric's.

The problem with most blogs is that people have to scroll to get down into it. And people hate scrolling. That's why we have a main site -- for the anti-scrollers.

I currently use Photoshelter, but am considering PickPic.
