...and perhaps provide a little feedback!
I am still somewhat of a newbie to this forum, although my wife Airika is on here quite often... but I'd like to some of your first impressions or suggestions about these logo ideas.
Please keep in mind, this is my first attempt at Logo design, and it's also my first attempt at using InDesign which I just purchased and installed... I love new toys!

Thanks!
Gerald

Honestly, the only one that stands out to me is G, but it needs some work. I had to look to see what your name was in order to figure out what was up with A&B. I don't care for any of the others at all. Sorry.

i think i would have to agree with the above - i had to try and figure it out - and that is definitely something you do not want a prospective client doing.... A and B - i thought it read 'poop'!

I think I like "H" best, it's clean, easy to read, but has a bit of style to it. I also like "L" it has a kinda cool stylized look to it, and would make a great, easily recognizable logo.

Well, I greaty appreciate this feedback! I can see how it would be confusing if you don't already know what you are looking at. But this is why I asked!
Also, none of these have been "refined" yet, I didn't want to waste too much time on logos that were way off base...

I actually liked A best...and at a glance, it just looks like a bunch of letters...but then I looked at it and saw that it said g pope....and I knew that before Iread your name under your avi

But none of them really said oooh oooh pick me!

Hey Gerald,
I think you have the chance with your name to be really classy here. Maybe this is overdone, but how about simplicity like this?

B grabs me because of the colors but I had no idea what it said (although do we have to know what a logo means/says for it to be a logo?). The last few look like elephants. But I like elephants. EFHI are yicky to me. No offense to stuartm but I don't like his version at all. I like the red/white/blue scheme.

Ok, I'll take a stab at it. I'll go with "brutal honesty" cuz I like you guys and want the new logo to rock!
A) Go Ape
B) Go Poop
C) Not bad - a bit oversimplified but it looks kinda "fun" with the P hanging on. I like this one best on this page.
D) Uhm... no.
E) WTF? Definitely no.
F) Double You Tee EFF? No. LOL I don't get these two - I mean I get that it's a G & P but ... woa.
G) Better than D but still not liking it. Dislike this color scheme too.
H) Not digging the G, not digging the Photography - don't hate the GP idea but it doesn't work here.
I) Gaudy! Definitely not unless you want to say "I'm the coolest photographer from 30 years ago!"
J-L) I definitely don't hate this GP. I like it the best of all the ideas so far. I strongly dislike the words underneath all 3. If you're designing a logo, design a logo. Logos don't include the words most of the time. That's your logotype and it's important but it's not part of your logo. It's part of your brand or look. So I lump JKL all into one and say I prefer the drop shadow but I prefer the white on ... teal? better than the teal on brown.
Honestly, I'd keep working on it or outsource it to a designer. Logo design can be really really hard to get right. I'm not digging any of these enough to say "that's it!"

No offense taken... just playin...
The questions are:
Who is your demographic?
What is your identity?
What message do you wish to put out there?
Will a tag line work with your logo?

Wow, this is great feedback! You know I've gotten used to other forums where you get nothing but useless praise on everything you post. Not so at OSP! I will definitely have to start hanging out here more often...

Personally I like C if you put where the white P is photography there I think that one would be sweet. the rest seem kinda boring. Just being honest. the other ones just don't pop out much.
