Hi All.
First let me say what an excellent group of photographers you all are. Your images are absolutely breath-taking.
On top of that, you are also very nice and helpful, when you could be competing with each other. That's very refreshing.
Now - About me.
About 2 months ago I picked up a Rebel XT on a whim. I hadn't used my Nikon SLR in about six years or taken anything but a snapshot in over ten years. i was skeptical of Canon, but it was highly recommended and I didn't have a huge investment in Nikon glass, so I took the plunge.
During the last year, my parents and grandmother both passed away and life events sometimes help you look at things in a different light (excuse the pun). I started thinking about the hours I spent in the darkroom during college and immediately after and thought it might be time to pick up a camera again.
I was a film snob and having worked in the film industry for years swore I would never own a digital SLR. P&S were fine for pictures at my kids birthday, but no serious photographer would ever shoot digital.
Boy times have changed. The Rebel XT unleashed my photographic eye and I was soon buying additional lenses and eventually a 20D.
My young son and nephews have made excellent subjects. I've spent a lot of time in the local Botanical gardens, but I see the area of wedding and event photography as a challenge worth pursuing. I also saw the mediocre images that my church's photographer shoots and knew I could do better.
I'm looking forward the the knowledge and comraderie I see in this forum to helping me enhance my skills.
Be patient with me - I'm a sponge and I ask lots of questions.
thanks,
Sean
