Full Version: Batch renaming help

I am done editing a wedding and I have everything nicely placed into folders per usual..but this time I decided to batch rename my images so the numbers aren't skipping around. I have actually not worried about this before but a few people have asked what happened to the 2 or 3 in between..etc.

Anywhooo---I batched renamed them in Bridge and now they are not .jpg anymore--just an image file with the name that I gave them---no file extension (sorry if what I am saying is not making sense, but I am a bit computer illiterate when it comes to the proper names) The real problem lies with uploading them--the files are not recognized until they are .jpg again.

I am lost--I just started using bridge and just started batch renaming so any insight would help. I am scared to go poking around too much for fear that I may mess something up!

Thanks Pals!

Bump on this one.....

I've been wondering the same thing. Any suggestions - or Kerri, how did you end up doing it?

Kerri, select all your images in Bridge, select Batch Rename and then make your Rename window match the frame grab below and you should be fine.

ETA: Whoa! I didn't realize the OP was from June. Well, hope this helps anyway!

wow--this was a long time ago
It must have been a glitch cause it never happened again, but when I remaned them, I had to type in the extention myself...so I had to say I wanted to rename them "img123.jpg" instead of img123 and then pick .jpg
It was very odd! I hope that helps!
