Full Version: Totally out of control

I am editing a wedding and I have taken the preview images down to 612. I have never showed this many. I have gone through the set a couple of times and I can't find one more to remove. It this too many? I normally show about 450-500. I am afraid I am going to just make the decisions even harder for the bride.

Am I totally out of line?

No way, you are totally fine! Go with it! No harm!
In May, I had a wedding where between my asst and I we shot over 3,000 images. My only goal was to put it under 1,000. I barely made it.
I did this when I normally give about 600-700.

We provide 800+ final pictures for the bride to see. I know of one company who recently uploaded 1,600 pictures for the bride.

My feeling is that it depends on your style for one (how must post you do and what sort of coverage your provide) and it depends on how you are presenting the proofs.

I think that if you are doing Pictage proofing online, you can present a pretty large number, so long as you have things very well organized into folders so that if people want to see a specific picture, they know the right area to look in.

I agree with Tim.

I'm with Tim as well. That number is not to high at all! I ALWAYS am at around 1,000 images.

I thought I better post since I hadn't posted in a while......

As soon as I included full coverage in all of my packages I find it hard to get my final upload below 800 ......

So go for it....

We try to keep it between 500-700. It usually ends up at 650 or so. But it's hard. That's culling about half. I recently decided to not show any "duplicates" -- you know, the shots that are practically the same? It always seemed that people would order photos that were almost, but not quite, the same. I retouch each wedding image and I was tired of retouching the "same" picture several times. I figure they're paying me to give them the best image.

Sometimes, there's a choice between, say, the groom's mom looking awful or the bride's mom looking awful. In that case we'll post both, but if they're ordered, I'll probably swap a head from one to make it look better. But I know I'll be doing it again for the next order. ;-)

But our case is probably different from yours. We still provide a proof magazine, so it costs us more if we show more. We've done one wedding without paper proofs at all, and it was difficult for the customers to zoom in on the pictures to check expressions.
