I would say that about 95% of my weddings....the receptions are VERY BORING & no dancing...no fun stuff.....ANYHOW I do have a wedding reception this Saturday that I'm HOPING & CROSSING my fingers is going to be fun....dancing & partying....so I want to try practicing dragging my shutter. I want to get some cool dancing....shots & simply just some cool reception shots. Any tips on how I drag my shutter would be greatly appreciated. I shoot with a Nikon D200....will be using a 17-55mm f2.8 & 70-200mm f2.8 VR lens. I shoot manual mode....I only have a SB600 flash.

Thanks sooo much to anyone who can possible give me tips or point me in the right direction to read about it!!! thumbsup.gif

Thanks sooo much you all!!!!

That is a great read. I know..I know...practice makes perfect thumbsup.gif . I did go out with a fellow photographer one night on our main street....it just seemed it took me forever to get correct settings with my camera & we used a tripod & I don't want to use a tripod cause that limits me moving around....I like laying on the ground sometimes for shots. 04.gif

I will just keep playing!!!!

I appreciate all your time!!!! urock.gif

oooooooooooh, now that is fun... I drag allll the time and sometimes it just turns out better than others. I swear I have to fiddle with it eveytime to get what I want.... here's a couple. They are both from the same wedding but they just had some really fun color.

I just did a post on this on my blog. check the link out. I use the D2X, 70-200, 17-55, and a 50mm lens. Typically I shoot receptions at iso 400, manual mode, usually f4 at 1/10 of a sec. sometimes, depending on where I am at I will make my flash -1. My flash is usually with the fong dong straight up. I usually like to shoot towards the DJ's lights. Y

good luck and have fun.
