I'm curious to which servo mode is best for weddings if I'm looking to get the sharpest shots.? One shot or AI servo? I'm using a 30D with 70-200 2.8L IS and 17-55 2.8 IS.
Thanks!

i'm somewhat curious too, I've been using ai focus, but I use the * button for focus, so it might not make a difference

I use the * button (cf. 4-1) to focus as well and find AI Servo to be the best for me. I tend to get many more sharp images than I did when using single shot mode, especially with moving subjects. Chris Humphreys turned me on to this and now I never take it off AI Servo! I can't wait to get the MKIII, if I am impressed with AI Servo on my 5D then I can't wait to see how the MKIII responds.

I use the * button as well. I guess the question was geard more towards 30D users since maybe that focusing motor isn't as fast as the 5D? I know it's slower to that the D series cameras.

I don't shoot Canon, but aren't
all the motors in the lenses? It's probably a different focusing processor.

I usually use one shot. But I've been giving ai servo a shot with the mark III. servo certainly works better than on my 30D, but I don't know if I'm convinced yet.

I use one shot. I have one 20d that refuses to lock focus and let me recompose so I changed that to the back button focus but still use it on one shot. If I put it on Ai servo it won't cooperate as much as one shot.
My other 20d works fine with the shutter button and one shot.. I don't get it???
My wife's 30d also works fine.. My troublesome 20d even checks out fine with Canon so I guess I just have to live with it till I can get my hands on a Mark III.
