Full Version: Dead link to purchase DVD.

OK. I Finally realized that I needed 2.6 for the dvd purchase option to work.

So it says in the old link that I need to upgrade and reload the slideshow to my server for the dvd purchase button to work...did that and I still get the deadlink coming up!

How do i fix this?

thanks.
BillCawley
I just did this and it worked for me...

Install 2.6 and change your shortcut or dock icon to the new program. It doesn't replace it automatically (and they look the same). Open the show, click 'Save and Preview' to save the update and reupload (no need to reupload the images). That should be it!

First of all, I love ShowItWeb! It's a great tool that has enhanced my slideshow workflow. Now about your problem, I've had a similar problem since I bought SIW a couple of weeks ago. PURCHASE DVD online only leads to an ERROR message. Todd at SI-DVD told me that they've been experiencing issues on one of their servers and are trying to resolve it. That was over a week ago and I, nor my client, can order a DVD online. The "error" message still pops up when the PURCHASE DVD icon is clicked. I know Todd's been very busy lately though, but it's still frustrating that it's still not working. He said he'd build the DVD folio for me and send it out to the client, so hopefully it'll arrive this week. I gotta say though, ShowItWeb is an awesome product!

Huh...Can you guys post up links to your shows because we've been getting tons of orders so everything should be up and running. I think we had 13 orders today so our servers are rockin as far as I know...

Yeah, it's kinda weird. Todd said they're having problems with a few web hosts not responding to the server and have not isolated exactly where the problem is.

Here's mine:

Thanks!

Cool! We'll do everything we can to get that working with your servers asap.

Thanks you two First of all I love both of your shows and I did just talk to Todd and he said that we've only had two issues with it so unfortunately you two are it so far... wacko.gif lol ...don't ya hate it when that happens.

In the meantime feel free to hitup Todd with your links and he can make the show for you.

He said the only thing he can think of is that the host tweaked something and so although we're trying to get around it the quickest way might be to hit them up and ask why we can't access the "showit.xml" inside of your folder...again...we're trying to find a workaround on our end for you two as soon as possible but if you have a minute hitup your host and see if they notice anything odd.

Thanks DJ (and Todd), you guys have been very helpful! I did check with my host and they didn't see anything wrong, but I'll address the .xml issue to see if it helps them in any way. Definitely keep us in the loop if you and Todd are able to find a workaround.

Todd said that he would ship out the complete DVD last Friday via USPS directly to my client. I emailed him yesterday to confirm it went out, but I haven't heard from him. I know he's busy but if you might know the answer, let me know! Thanks again.

Cool - yea...Todd's outta commission this week b/c he's up at a big wedding in the mountains...but I'm guessing he got it out before he left. I'll double check.

Thanks DJ. The ticket support number is #XTQ-772734 if that helps. He said he'd send me an invoice via paypal last week, but haven't seen one yet so I'm worried, lol. My client said she still hasn't received the DVD.

I made contact with my webhost and they'll be looking into the ShowIt.xml issue and I hope to hear from them soon. They said it might have something to do with HTML and scripting permissions on my end. I'll keep you posted.
alexis
hmm, weird. I'll ask Big Folio...they host my site. Thanks for checking into this for us DJ...what is Todd's email?

Thanks.
alexis
ok, I don't know if this helps but the deadlink seems to showing up only with the shows I made in the beta version...I reloaded them into the 2.6 showit and reuploaded to the server...but still says "deadlink."

Aggh! most of my links to order are DOA. I've emailed support - is this happening for anyone else?

I'm not sure if you have the same problem I did, but it turned out to be my webhost server having the issue. For some reason, ShowIt could not get everything it needed from my server, resulting in the error. Both my server and ShowIt tech support were very helpful in trying to resolve it. But to save myself the headache, I went ahead and used my other server (different webhost) to dedicate to slideshows and I have no more errors thumbsup.gif Maybe check with your webhost and let them know what's going on, they might be able to look into it for you. Also contact tech support at ShowIt if you haven't already.

Hey Jonathan smile.gif It appears your show does not have a title so I think it needs a title in order for us to print it on the disk for you.

Hey Ben, I think the & sign in your show is killing it. Those characters aren't really web friendly so if you can just change that you should be good to go.Rock on,DJ

Hi there. I have the same issue. My show is at http://www.lsphotography.ca/Jocelyn_Dave/ and I get the error page.

My client is asking about it.

Help?
Ok, think I figured that out - I was including the index.htm part which doesn't work.

Now I'm having trouble adding a new show and getting an error message.

Sigh....
