I'm playing with the color temperature settings on my MarkII and am wondering what temp setting most of you are using?? Also, will this color setting affect my saturation or just the warmth?

Josh-

color temp setting:
if I'm erratically in different color temp areas I just leave it on auto. same case for mixed lighting situations if I haven't decided I want to commit to a certain color temp.

I set manually for tungsten and daylight.

color saturation:
sure, I think if you have a photo that has a huge color shift, correcting that in photoshop will not get you anywhere close to the color sat that you would have if you had captured it correctly.

Why not shoot AUTO then color correct utilizing DPP. DPP is awesome and not had a photograph I couldn't get close to natural settings. Hey if I get the photo 90 percent corrected its my lab's job to get the photograph 100 percent. I am leary of changing functions within the menu.

I just shoot RAW and deal with Color Temps in post production where I can make better calls with a large image on screen.

I just don't like shooting 100% auto WB. I try to get it right in camera and then fix it in DPP later.

For those of us doing slideshows trying to fix the WB in camera makes the small jpegs for the slideshows look better.

I know not many people do this...am I the only one who shoots RAW and still tries to get the WB right in camera?

I don't shoot RAW but I always try to get it right. I don't like auto WB because every image is different, and then I can't batch the color correction with BullZEye.

Musicman, what do you mean when you say you try to get the WB fixed in camera? Does that just mean choosing the right setting, or is there more?

How does bullzeye limit that functionality?

I have been shooting only in the auto white balance mode for a while now, but this last wedding, I slipped out of my comfort zone and messed a little bit with the balance settings. I think for 80-90% of my shooting, the white balance in camera is good enough. But, there are some times when I saw the need this weekend so I did make the quick adjustment myself.

Chris, are you still processing in DPP? I gotta show you guys our new CS2 workflow...

If the white balance is different for each image, you need to correct each image individually, rather than selecting a bunch and having BullZEye change them all (in the same lighting) while you go do other things. You can still color correct, you just can't batch them because they're all different.
