I made a mistake by not doing the DVD option and now my bride wants it! I'm hoping there is an easier way to do this than making a whole new show.

Can I create a folder and upload it? If so, what will I have to name the folder? If it matters the show is here

I hope this is a possibility- I promise I won't be making that mistake again! biggrin.gif

Forgive me if I'm wrong as I'm fairly new to SIW, but I think you can open the show and then click on DVD option. You'll probably have to save and upload again (I'm assuming) but it should be there without having to recreate the whole thing.

Then again, I could be totally wrong.

I thought the DVD option was in the first page that you couldn't go back to? Off to check it out!!!!
OH- I forgot to mention, I actually resized my files for the slideshow and they aren't large enough for the DVD- so I will have to go get the large JPEGS anyhow!

If you have to re-do the show... then open the old show, and save a new music/timing template from it.

then, when you get the bigger images, use that template in the timing screen.

Just a minor redo.

Thanks Troy! (you're just making too much sense for me) tongue.gif

Hi Laura....
Yes, I am doing the SAME THING! I didn't add the option for them to purchase it...and right away, they emailed me back and want to buy it!

I am pretty sure that you have to re-create it, because that is the only way to get to the first screen that offers the option when you create it. (That's what I did anyway...)

But now.....here's my question....What do you change the size of the images to, since it will be on DVD, if they purchase it? I see that they give you recommendations, but what is really the good way to do it? I don't want the show to look bad when they get it. ohmy.gif

Let me know if you have gotten this far...

Hey smile.gif

I'm glad your clients are stoked on the shows!

We can make DVD's from shows created without the DVD box checked but for the highest quality show definitely check that box before you upload and then that's all you have to do.

...and....You can still generate any size show you want for the web b/c Showit Web will automatically generate a seperate hidden folder that we use for the DVD! Pretty cool huh!

One thing that's IMPORTANT smile.gif is that you sign up on Showit-DVD.com FIRST and insert your Photographers ID in Showit Web before saving the show and uploading it. Otherwise we don't know who's show it is.

Well, this time I'm leaving the images in their original size- I would usually resize so I can sharpen them myself and because the 5D's 12MB images take a long time to upload!

Once I see how the DVD sharpening & quality is maybe I won't end up resizing anymore. I can click upload and walk away if I need to smile.gif I'll let you know what I think once I get them! biggrin.gif

& thanks David for your help!

Okay...cool. Yeah, Laura. please let me know what you think when you get the DVD.

I am curious about the info that DJ sent though....does that "dvd" folder only show up when the DVD is ordered, or do I have to load that certain "dvd____" folder when I create the show.....AND.....when a client orders a show....will I be notified or something, so I can customize it?

(DJ is probably chuckling at my post on this, because this is how I was at the Brooks workshop) CONFUSED!!!

What is your files resolution? Don't send 12 mb files. The regular TV your don't need larger then 720x540 and for HD you need twice more.
I resize my images to fit 1000x1000 so, they have some pixels for zooming in/out. I don't do HD slideshows.

Show it creates that DVD folder and it will upload it to your web server. The clients can't access it. When your client orders the show I think it should be exactly how you want it already. Hope that is less confusing for ya! tongue.gif

Thanks! I wanted to make sure I understood it.

Yea - Laura is correct and you shouldn't have to do any extra work on your end with your files. That's the beauty of the system. You just click the little DVD box and then upload your show like normal and we do the rest. smile.gif Don't worry about compressing or anything like that.

smile.gif Rock on!
