I've been posting a lot about samples, as I'm mixing things up here with the way I do my albums.
I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on the psychology behind ordering a 12x12 and showing it to the client versus an 8x8. Do you think if you show them the biggest, they'll want the biggest? But if you show them the smaller, they'll think they won't need the bigger one?
Please share your thoughts...
Thanks,
Aaron

We have a 10x10 Zookbook, 10x10 matted album, and a 5x5 Zookbook. We pretty much always sell a 10x10 either matted or Zookbook. Show what you want to sell.

Our brides almost always want the one they see. We show them lots of different albums and describe all the options, but what they see is what they want, normally. Kathleen Hawkins says to show the largest album you want to sell, with as many pages for pretty much the same reason. Price it accordingly, of course.

More, More MORE! This is what I show:
2.5 x 3.5 (3 different weddings)
8x8 cloth
8x10 leather
10x12 leather
11x14 2 different weddings
Almost everybody goes for the biggest, baddest most awesome album.

I agree with showing them what you want to sell.
I have an 8 x 8 and a 10 x 10 so far. There has been interest from clients in the 8 x 8 as a parent album, but everybody's gone for the 10 x 10 for themselves. I'm getting a 12 x 12 from KISS as soon as I can manage it! I want to sell that. More money makes me a happy Libbie.

I've got a 12x12 and a 10x10 for the same reasons as above. I want to sell the big albums.

Does a car dealer ever put the base-line standard version in the show room? That car sitting indoors under the a/c on the little fluffy pads under it's wheels - yea, it's loaded.

I like to carry one of every size that I carry. 8x8 10x10 and a 12x12. Then I have swatches of all of the colors I offer. It is way easier to sell books that the client can touch and feel.

THREADJACK WARNING: so Shaun, does that mean sample swatches will be available for the KISS books?

End of threadjack. Sorry.
