anyone out there ever try out the quantum qnexus ttl adapter? i'm a huge quantum qflash fan and just updated my flash to the new t5dr flash. also got a qnexus for a trial not too expensive. the ttl seemed to work most of the time and other times like all canon flashes...overexposed a few times. i have heard all the talk about canon flashes so don't bother chatting about that.... just want to know if anyone has had a revelation using the qnexus or should i do as i did in the past and go manual.

If this system is not reliable, you better stay going manual.

Do you use your Qflash on or off camera? On camera, another try would be worth it, but off camera, I would prefer manual - ever!

I will be very interested in these results also. I have the T4D and had considered doing the upgrade to it.

With the camera controlling the TTL exposure, I would imagine that any flash will give the same inconsistant results

chuck, don't be so sure... so far my experience using the qnexus with ttl settings has given me mostly over exposures. if i press the fel pre flash before i the actual shot the result is usually good however you can't do that all the time. i'm using the canon eos 1d and 1ds mark ii with the 580ex flash or ste2 on the camera and qflash off camera as a secondary light. i'm thinking this weekend what i'll try to do is set my camera to manual and hopefully the qflash will use my settings. i've experimented a little around the office but we all know the true test is during the event. i'll have my pocket wizards handy just in case. manual does seem to be the best way to go. the only time i actually got really consistent results with the qnexus last weekend was during formals with the flash off camera and to my left and forward a little. very consistent results...amazing actually. then during the reception it just seemed like the darned thing didn't do what i wanted it to do. let's keep this going. i'd really like to hear what others are doing. i'll keep y'all posted as to my findings too.

have a good shoot this week and weekend!

dave, did you get the qnexus and if so how does it work for you. i find that the ettl is a little iffy when it comes to exposure. i think i'm going to try the auto setting and maybe adjust the compensation a little.
