I was looking for wireless triggers and asked a question on this thread and I was recommended the triggers that Matt mentioned on this thread. Well I received them yesterday and I have been testing with them and so far, out of at least 50 times I have triggered them, only once did they not fire, and I think it was because my flash was on stand-by mode

I just took the trigger, receiver, and flash to church this morning and my son went up in the loft and I went to the front by the altar and the flash fired every time. That is a distance of at least 150-200 feet.

I also tested for the sync speed yesterday, with my D70s it syncs all the way to 500, which is the camera's limit. I tried 640 and althought the flash fires, the exposure is completely dark. I can post some test shots of that if anyone is interested. My guess is that they will only sync up 250 with my D200 which will be delivered on Wed.

Matt, thank you so much for finding these triggers and for making the suggestion. I will try to take some pix of my kids later on today or early this week and post.

This is such an awesome community!!!

You know we have a whole thread dedicated to how awesome Matt is. Check it out here. But yes He's killer awesome and totally deserves tons of recognition for helping out the community so much!

I'm glad the triggers work for you - they work flawlessly for me as well. However, I didn't find them so much as I saw them on Strobist and trusted Strobist. Strobist is like Daily-Zack. You get a TON of great info and you can learn so much more about lighting. HIGHLY recommend using bloglines or your google reader to sub to http://www.strobist.com smile.gif

I am confused how these wireless triggers work. Can I buy one of the $29.95 triggers and be able to use the flash wirelessly or do I have to buy something else along with it?

Assuming your cam works with the flash & cam (I have a 20d & 550 ex), you hook the transmitter up to the cam, the receiver up to the flash and you're good - all done. smile.gif It works pretty slick.

So do you need more than one trigger if you have multiple flashes? Or does one trigger them both if they are set on slave?

I'm still using the infrared transmitter thingey. I just hate that you can't put it anywhere 'cuz the transmitter and the flash have to "see" each-other.

You can fire multiple receivers with only 1 transmitter. I got the $30 set that Matt mentioned and then I added an extra receiver and they both fire, as long as they are on the same channel.

I am also ordering a second set because as of this coming Wed. I'll have to cameras and I prefer not to have to change the trigger from one camera to the other when I am using both at the same time.

How do these work outdoors in bright conditions when you only want a bit of fill flash?

I'll be trying that this weekend for our baby's baptism and will let you know next week. But since they are radio triggers, I doubt bright sun light will affect them.
