I am wondering from those who love canvases and in your opinion which company WHCC or Simply Canvas has the better product. I guess with WHCC you don't have to resize, clone or anything...just upload the file. Is Simply Canvas putting out such a great product over WHCC that it is worth the extra steps? Have you ordered from both companies? Compare and share.
Johnny
Simply Canvas is way better.
Your limited through WHCC as to what sizes you get, not so with Simply Canvas.

Simply costs a bit more I think, but it is worth it.
The 24x30 I had made through them looks just like what is on my screen - with WHCC, it was way too magenta and also too dark.

Go with SimplyCanvas thumbsup.gif

Do they have color profiles for you to download?

I've heard wonderful things about WHCC. I've not used Simply Canvas. They do not back their wraps, which to me made them look unfinished. You remember our wall of wraps?

They were all from Miller's and they did a great job.

Another thing...I think WHCC and Millers include shipping in their price. Simply Canvas does not...that ADDS up really quick. Millers has overnight shipping included.

Considered pixel2canvas? I have yet to order but everyone RAVES about them.

I haven't tried anything but WHCC...but I am very happy with their wraps. And it only takes 2 days to get it! You can't beat that.

Basically it's the same settings as WHCC - It's just that WHCC used to use Epson printers and switched over to Canon printers, so their profiles are a bit off - at least they were when I had stuff printed on Canvas through them.

We love our WHCC canvas smile.gif

They don't have custom sizes but their catolog is pretty thick. You can usually find a size that is close.

I've been really happy with the canvas prints I've had done with WHCC. The colors came out perfect!
Johnny
blink.gif - I may have to give WHCC another try... with this many people being happy with it.

FWIW, I had spent the last 4 yrs. printing my own canvas on Epson printers and I really wasn't impressed with WHCC at all (although I use them for everything else now)- but when I saw a sample from Simply Canvas (thanks Claire Kayser!) I had to give them a try, and am totally sold on them.

ymmv of course. thumbsup.gif

I doubt that! [But I do have very high standards, I'm a picky guy.]

But you and others are making a great case for WHCC... and I just did a canvas from them about 2 months ago (which sucked imo) So I am surprised, thats all.

Man, I wish we could compare ours side-by-side. Are you coming to Indy anytime soon? smile.gif

You'll laugh... I'd love to show it to you (although I don't plan on being in Indy in the near future), but I was so mad that they wouldn't reprint it w/o charging me that I shot it up with my bb gun - call it a WHCC Canvas effigy. laughing.gif Oh, and it was already a redo to begin with.

So I dug out my Epson 2200, cut some canvas and printed it for my clients (it was an 8x10).
The first print was perfect off my 2200.
turtle nate
You could have just driven it down there and thrown it back into the drive-thru window.

Amanda is pretty picky on the prints. I can't imagine that they didn't blow it on yours.
Melody
www.pixel2canvas.com is the ONLY place to order a canvas print. The quality is outstanding and the customer service couldn't possibly get any better. They're freaking amazing. The quality of P2C is SO much better than all my other canvas prints I had ordered before I found them that I've ended up throwing most of the old ones in a closet because they look like poop in comparison. I've ordered canvases from just about every company you can name that makes canvas but since I found P2C I'll never order another canvas from anywhere else. They seriously are *that* good.
mattcam
Melody,

Not doubting, just curious...

When you compared all the companies did you use the same image, same size, same everything? Otherwise, it may not be a fair comparison. I'm currently doing this now with a few labs for regular prints (not canvas) and I'm using the exact same files.

Well, I have a canvas from all three places: WHCC, P2c, and Simply Canvas.

WHCC: this canvas came back looking all wonky, the color tones were off: a bit green or yallow and had just a blah muted feeling to them (I ***LOVE*** all my prints from them) and it has been over a year since I ordered that canvas from them. The turn around time was fast.

P2C: These guys are AWESOME...they have great cs, a fun attitude and the canvases color is rich and true to my monitor and they are very professional. The only thing I feel that the turn around time os too long, but at the same time, I know that good work takes time.

Simply Canvas: I just ordered 5 wraps from them. My first time. And doing the "extra steps" really took no time for me. The turn around time was FAST and the images have such a rich color to them...really nice product. AS far as them not backing the wraps, I was told and this is what I did, was to put a note that you would like the backs to be finished, and they did at no extra charge.

So here is my 2 cents from my samples :

Qaulity: This is a tie between P2C and Simply Canvas

Customer Services: Again a tie between the two, but P2C is definately a TON more fun and their packaging and little instruction papers are GREAT!!!

Turn Around time: Simply canvas: It was super fast!

For my future orders, if I need one quick, I will order from Simply Canvas. If it doesn't really matter- then P2C it is...I love to see what duck I am going to get in the mail. smile.gif

Hope that helps!

As I was typing, I was thinking that it would be nice to have the same image etc....just to compare. And the fact that is has been some time since I ordered a canvas from WHCC, could also partly be because by images have really improved over time???? Good point smile.gif

FWIW, WHCC just sent out an email announcing a sale on canvas gallery wraps...up to 30% off from 6/4 to 6/15.

Johnny I am with you. If you compare WHCC to your current lab; the prints are a tad dark and a tad magenta. Glad to know you compared identical prints as I did.

Thanks T. for all the info. I will try adding pixeltocanvas to my aresenal.

I only use Pixel...the quality is amazing as well as CS

I love Simply Canvas. They are incredibly fast, easy to order, and the canvases are absolutely gorgeous!
CanvasRox
Tawyna and Melody - thank you so much! wub.gif

FYI - our turnaround time is much faster - within 7 days (usually much less) from order to shipping. Coating is included! And our prices are less that WHCC - even when they're having a sale.

Please - if you have questions - Call WHCC and ask them. Call Simply Canvas and ask them. Call us and ask. Then make your decision on who you think is best for you. There's enough canvas business for everyone out there. My husband and business partner, CB, is a photographer. He's head of the production department. Me? I'm a graphic artist. We have your eyes, and look out for you.

Plus, we're just a whole lot of fun. Ask me - I'll tell you! *snerk*

All the best,
Roxanne

Roxanne,

Your response alone makes me want to give you a try. Anyone who's not afraid of the competition and encourages people to make informed decisions gets bonus points in my book. smile.gif Thanks for posting!

Airika - thank you very much - I'm honored. And I'm all about breaking with the knowledge. thumbsup.gif

Honestly - it's just how we operate. The more we can help you - inform you - work with you - the better we work as partners. Because without your work, my canvas would be blank.

So - go forth and shoot! Be Brilliant! (that's what we USED to say to daddy when he had a job somewhere else, and what I say to my 4.5 year old twins when I drop them off at school...) I love it when they say it to me! Who doesn't want to be brilliant each day?

All the best,
Roxanne

Yup, I'm about to cover my wall with these things. I will def be trying you guys now. Thanks for posting.
