Full Version: Installing Brilliant Presets in Lightroom

Once I get past <username>, I don't have an Application data\Adobe\Lightroom\Develop Presets as a viable path (meaning these folders are not here.)

I CAN get to "Adobe" by going through C: Program Files\Adobe - and then I have a folder called "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom". I tried putting them there within a new folder I created called "Develop Presets". I don't think Lighroom thought much of my idea because I don't see them. unsure.gif

Any help would be great!

Try this - open in explorer the folder that contains the presets. Then open lightroom.

In the develop mode, right click on one of the presets - it will give you 3 options - click on the middle one "show in explorer"

Go back to the first explorer window you opened and highlight the presets you want to use; ctrl+c to copy and then go to the preset window and ctrl+v to paste.

Hope that helps!

biggrin.gif THANK YOU!! You saved me a bunch more time and frustration. It worked, just like that.

And Neal, now that I can see the entire network folder list; I obviously have something switched where I'm not seeing all folders when I try to click through. Thanks for that tip.

Thanks again.

now THIS is brilliant! Some of the new operating systems make it tougher to find stuff so thans so much for helping out you guys. This sounds like definitely the best way to find the folder!

The problem is that the directory is hidden. Unhide all subdirectories and it will appear.
Tamsk
when I right click on a preset in LiR all I see is new folder or export.

you are right clicking a default Lightroom preset.

Next to PRESETS it has a + symbol. Just click that, type "delete this preset" and then click create. Now that you have a USER preset instead of the "Lightroom presets" right click your new user preset and you'll have the full menu. It doesn't work with LR's pre-installed ones. smile.gif
Nichanh
How do you unhide the directory?

This worked perfectly - I'm not installing the Brilliant presets, but some others that I got almost a year ago, and couldn't make them work. Thanks for your help! smile.gif

You can in fact have the metadata in your file by going the metadata on the top file menu (In Library Module) and save metadata to file. Now if you were to open that file in ACR it will show up with your xmp info and changes. Give it a try.

If you are in the develop module it is in a different menu. From this module you will select photo in the top menu and then go to save metadata. Why it is differant i don't really know, because after all you are doing the same thing.

This is the file structure on a mac i am not sure if the menus are exact in this scenario.

Also you can transfer your presets from ACR. What i did is i took one image and copied itself several times i save the files with the changes and opened them up in lightroom as you open each file those unique changes show in all the adjustments in the develop module. Then you select i recommend clicking on the plus sign up on top by the Lightroom presets and either put them in the already selected folder called User presets or click that menu and opt to make your own named preset folder, then name the preset as it is in your ACR and you will have a lightroom version duplicate of your ACR, Go through them all and your set.
